What is BNB?

BNB is the native coin of BNB Chain and is closely tied to the Binance ecosystem. It launched in 2017 as an Ethereum token and later moved to its own network, where it pays gas fees, is staked by validators and is used for governance. BNB has a scheduled burn program that permanently removes coins from circulation over time.
