What is Ripple USD?

Ripple USD (RLUSD) is a US dollar stablecoin issued by Ripple and launched in December 2024. It is backed by US dollar deposits, short-term US Treasuries and cash equivalents and is designed to be redeemable one-for-one. RLUSD is issued natively on both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum and is aimed mainly at payments and institutional use.
