What is IOTA?
IOTA is the native coin of the IOTA network, a project started in 2016 and supported by the Berlin-based IOTA Foundation. It originally used a block-less structure called the Tangle, aimed at IoT and data use cases, and in 2025 it moved to a new design known as IOTA Rebased with delegated proof of stake and Move smart contracts. IOTA is used for network fees and staking.
