Kaia (KAIA) is a layer-1 blockchain formed in 2024 by merging Klaytn, launched by Kakao, and Finschia, launched by LINE, two networks linked to major Asian messaging apps. KAIA replaced the former KLAY and FNSA tokens and is used for transaction fees, staking and governance. The chain is EVM-compatible and targets wallets and mini-apps reached through messengers such as Kakao and LINE.
