What is Pi Network?
Pi (PI) is the native coin of Pi Network, a project launched in 2019 that let people accumulate coins through a mobile app instead of energy-intensive mining. Its open mainnet went live in February 2025, after years in which balances could only be used inside the app's ecosystem. The network's consensus is based on the Stellar Consensus Protocol, and users generally complete identity checks before moving coins to mainnet.
