What is Stellar?
Stellar (XLM), also called lumens, is the native asset of the Stellar network, launched in 2014 by Jed McCaleb and the nonprofit Stellar Development Foundation. The network focuses on payments and issuing tokenized assets such as stablecoins, using the Stellar Consensus Protocol instead of mining. XLM pays small transaction fees and is required as a minimum balance for each account.
