The short answer

Binance P2P lets you buy crypto from another Binance user with your own local payment method: you pick an ad, pay the seller directly by bank transfer or an e-wallet, tap "Transferred, Notify Seller", and the seller releases coins that Binance has already locked in escrow. You need a verified account with two-factor authentication turned on, you can have at most two open orders at once, and three cancellations in one day freeze your "Buy Crypto" function until the next day. If the coins do not arrive in time, the Appeal button gives the seller 10 minutes to respond before Binance support takes over.

What Binance P2P actually is

Binance describes P2P as a marketplace where users exchange crypto with each other in their local currency, set their own prices and choose from more than 700 payment methods, with Binance running escrow in between. The important word is escrow: when you place an order, Binance immediately sets aside the same amount of the seller's crypto. The seller cannot spend it elsewhere while your order is open, and it only moves to you when the seller confirms your payment or when support rules on an appeal.

That makes P2P different from the card "Buy Crypto" flow and from spot trading on the Binance exchange profile page:

Before your first order

Binance's help page lists two requirements before you can buy on P2P: complete identity verification, and turn on at least one 2FA device such as Google Authenticator. Add the payment method you plan to use in your profile under your own name, because sellers send and receive money outside Binance and will check that the name on the transfer matches the account.

Step by step: buying USDT on the app

The app path in Binance's guide starts from Add Funds → P2P Trading. You then choose between two zones:

  • Express: choose your currency, enter the USDT amount, pick a payment method, and the system selects the best matching ad for you. Fastest, least control.
  • P2P zone: you browse ads yourself and filter by amount and payment method. More control over who you trade with.

In the P2P zone:

1. Pick a seller. Look at the ad's available quantity and limits, the payment method and the seller's terms before you tap Buy. 2. Enter how much USDT you want. The order must fall inside the ad's minimum and maximum. 3. Read the seller's terms, then tap Place Order. Binance locks the seller's USDT in escrow at this moment. 4. Tap View Payment Details and send the money to the seller's account from your own account. 5. Only after the money has left your account, tap Transferred, Notify Seller. The order moves to "Releasing". 6. The seller checks their bank, then releases. Your USDT lands in your Funding Account.

On the website the menu is Trade → P2P, and the same Express/P2P choice applies. Binance's order screen also gives you a chat window with the seller; keep every message about the trade there, because it is the record support reads if something goes wrong.

What the order book looked like today

We pulled the first page of USDT buy ads from Binance P2P's public endpoint at 18:52 SGT on 13 October 2026 and compared them with Binance's own spot order books where one exists:

CurrencyCheapest buy ads (first 3)Ads listedTypical payment methodsBinance spot USDT price

Indian rupee101.55 / 102.07 / 102.08 INR985UPI, IMPS, PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytmno spot pair

Two practical points come out of that table. First, in currencies that also have a spot pair, the best P2P ads sit within about 0.1% of the spot price, so P2P is not automatically expensive. Second, the cheapest ad is often not the one you can use: in rupiah the lowest-priced ads carried minimum orders of 750,000 to 10,000,000 IDR, and most ads gave the buyer 15 to 30 minutes to pay. Filter by the amount you actually want to spend before you compare prices.

The three rules that trip people up

Do not tap "Transferred" before you have paid. Binance's guide is explicit: tap it only after the transfer has left your account. Marking an unpaid order as paid is the fastest way to get your account restricted.

Do not cancel after you have paid. If you already sent money, cancelling releases the seller's escrow back to them. Binance says not to cancel unless the seller has already refunded you into your payment account.

Watch the cancellation count. Three cancellations in one day suspend your "Buy Crypto" function for the rest of that day, and you can only have two orders open at the same time.

If the seller does not release: how appeals work

If your coins do not arrive within the release window, open the order and tap Appeal (on the website it sits on the "Pending Release" page). Binance's appeal guide describes the process:

1. Choose a reason and describe what happened in detail, with screenshots of your transfer. 2. The seller has 10 minutes to answer with either "Consensus reached" or "Negotiation failed". 3. If they agree, the system releases the crypto. If they pick "Negotiation failed" or do not answer within 10 minutes, the appeal goes to "Under Review" and a support agent handles it, with updates by email and SMS. 4. If you sort it out with the seller yourself, you can cancel the appeal; cancel by mistake and you must wait 5 minutes before filing again.

Sellers have the same tool from the "Verify Payment" page, which matters if you sell USDT for cash later: never release until you have checked your bank balance yourself, not a screenshot.

How to act on this

P2P is usually the on-ramp, not the place you keep trading. A common pattern is to buy USDT through a P2P ad in your currency, then move to spot for every later purchase, where the Binance fee breakdown is a flat percentage you can plan around. If you are opening a Binance account for that, signing up with code 11350287 returns 25% of your Binance trading fees, which adds up once you start making regular spot buys. If you want to see how the fees stack up against another large venue first, our Binance vs OKX comparison puts both side by side, and the OKX deposit guide covers the same P2P idea on OKX.

What we could not verify

Binance has changed its P2P fee rules several times and publishes them per market; we did not find one current page that states today's maker and taker fees for every currency, so check the fee line on the order screen before you confirm. The ad counts and prices above are a snapshot from 18:52 SGT and change minute by minute.

Quick answers

Is Binance P2P free for buyers? Binance's help pages describe fees as charged per market; the order screen shows any fee before you confirm, so check it there for your currency.

How long does the seller have to release? Each ad sets its own payment window, commonly 15 to 30 minutes in today's ads; if your coins are not released in time, use Appeal.

Can I have several P2P orders at once? No more than two ongoing orders; finish one before starting a third.

Where do the coins go? To your Funding Account. Transfer them to Spot before trading.

What happens if I cancel three times? Your "Buy Crypto" function is suspended for the rest of that day.
