Pendle is a DeFi protocol launched in 2021 that splits yield-bearing assets into two parts: a principal token (PT) and a yield token (YT), which can be traded separately. This lets users lock in a fixed yield or take a position on future yield. The PENDLE token is used for governance and can be staked or locked to receive a share of protocol revenue and to direct incentives.
