Stagione 1Episodio 62:06
First deposit: where does the money come from, and where does it go?
Punti chiave
A fiat deposit, buying crypto, an on-chain deposit and an internal transfer are different routes.
On-chain deposits need a supported coin and network; internal transfers stay on the platform.
Never pay a stranger off-platform; check where the balance will land first.

These all look like putting money in. Which one do I press?

Start with what you're holding. Money in your bank, coins you already have somewhere else, or a balance in another account on the same platform. Each one takes a different route.

A fiat deposit usually adds a cash balance to your account. Buying crypto directly means you pay and receive a crypto asset. Some platforms support bank or card channels, some don't, and fees and limits differ.
- Nexubo
If you already hold crypto, you can deposit it using a supported coin and network. An internal transfer just moves balance between your accounts. It's usually not an on-chain transfer. Check where the balance will land first.

Some platforms also offer trading between users. That's not another name for a bank transfer. Never pay off-platform in private, never use funds of unknown origin or third-party payments. If it's unclear, don't do it yet.
- Sam
No. They're different channels.
- Nexubo
Right. Look at the asset first, then the route, and finally check what actually arrived.

BTC/USDT: does that slash mean you buy two coins? Next: your first spot trade.

Understand first, then act.
