The short answer
Blur is shutting down its website, not its smart contracts: the blur.io frontend will be deprecated on 12 November 2026, while the Blur marketplace protocol keeps running on-chain and BLUR keeps control of the protocol's fee switch, the team said on X on 12 October. Blend, Blur's NFT lending product, stops matching new loans on the same date, so borrowers have until then to repay or let their loans default. The BLUR token fell about 31% on Binance in the 24 hours after the announcement, to $0.0132.

What Blur actually announced
The announcement was a three-post thread from the official @blur_io account at 19:59 UTC on Monday, 12 October:
- Frontend: "The blur.io frontend will be deprecated on November 12, 2026." The team stressed that the deprecation "only applies to the frontend."
- Protocol and token: the marketplace protocol "will remain operational on-chain," and BLUR "will continue to control its fee switch."
- Blend: "Blend will stop matching new loans on November 12, 2026. Borrowers have until then to repay their loans or allow them to default." After that date, Blur says it will provide a frontend tool to help users withdraw their assets from Blend.
- Scam warning: the final post warns users to beware of impersonators and fraudulent announcements, and says the only official account is @blur_io.
The Block, which first reported the news, put it in context: Blur's monthly trading volume peaked around $1.43 billion in March 2023 and had fallen to under $7 million by March 2026, according to The Block's data. The announcement follows the wind-downs of the Ethereum layer-2 networks Blast (announced 2 October) and Abstract (6 October).
What it means for you, by situation
Tabela do artigo: role na horizontal ou selecione a área da tabela e use as teclas de seta.
| If you... | What changes on 12 November | What to do now |
|---|---|---|
| Hold NFTs in your own wallet | Nothing on-chain; you lose the blur.io interface | Nothing urgent; your NFTs stay in your wallet |
| Have NFTs listed on Blur | Listings live on-chain but the blur.io page to manage them goes away | Cancel or adjust listings while the site still works |
| Have bids placed through Blur | The interface you used to place and fund them goes away | Cancel bids you no longer want and withdraw any unused bidding balance now |
| Borrowed against an NFT on Blend | No new loans are matched | Repay before 12 November or accept the NFT may be lost to default |
| Lent on Blend | No new loans are matched; Blur promises a withdrawal tool afterwards | Track your active loans; plan to use the official tool after the date |
| Hold BLUR tokens | Token keeps fee-switch control; the main product loses its frontend | Decide whether that is still a reason to hold |
Your NFTs are not at risk from the shutdown itself. NFTs sit in your wallet, not on blur.io. A frontend is the website that talks to smart contracts; turning it off does not move or freeze anything. Other marketplaces and aggregators can still read and trade the same NFTs.

Abrir →Blend borrowers face a real deadline. Blur's wording is direct: repay or "allow them to default." In NFT lending, default typically means the lender can take the NFT you put up as collateral. If you want to keep it, repay before 12 November and do not wait for the last day, when gas and site traffic can spike.
Approvals outlive websites. When you list or bid on any marketplace, your wallet usually grants that marketplace's contracts permission to move your NFTs or tokens. Those approvals stay active after a site goes offline. The Block reported in September that legacy approvals on Magic Eden left $5.7 million of NFTs exposed to an exploit before a rescue. Once your Blur listings and bids are closed, review and revoke approvals you no longer need with a reputable approval checker, and never sign anything from a site that claims to be "Blur's migration tool" unless the link comes from @blur_io itself.
What happened to the BLUR price
On Binance, BLUR/USDT opened the 24-hour window at $0.01904 and was trading at $0.01317 at 00:53 UTC on 13 October, a 30.8% drop, on about 344 million BLUR of volume. OKX showed $0.0132 at the same time. The Block put BLUR's market capitalisation at about $44 million after the first leg down, against a token price above $5 in early 2023.
Derivatives traders piled in on the way down. Binance's BLUR perpetual showed a funding rate of -0.60% for the current eight-hour period, meaning short sellers pay longs, and open interest of about 282 million BLUR, worth roughly $3.7 million at the mark price of $0.0131 (our arithmetic). Funding that negative says the short side is crowded; it can make a sharp bounce more likely, but it does not change the news.
The fee switch is the one piece of value Blur's team pointed to. It is a governance control: BLUR holders can decide whether the protocol charges a fee on trades. With the main interface going away and volume already down more than 99% from the peak by The Block's figures, the revenue such a switch could capture is the open question for holders.
How to act on this
If you are trading the BLUR move rather than holding it, treat it like any token with crowded shorts and thin liquidity: keep leverage low, check the funding-rate board before holding through a settlement, and watch the liquidations tracker for squeezes. On OKX, perpetual fees for a standard account are 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker, and signing up with code nexu888 returns 40% of trading fees, settled hourly; the OKX exchange profile has the full schedule.
What we could not verify
Blur's thread does not say what happens to open bids and bidding balances after 12 November, whether listings created through blur.io will keep appearing on other marketplaces, or when the Blend withdrawal tool will go live. We will update this article if Blur publishes details.
Quick answers
Is Blur shutting down? The blur.io website will be deprecated on 12 November 2026. The on-chain marketplace protocol keeps running.
Are my NFTs safe? Yes, the shutdown does not move or lock NFTs in your wallet. Clean up listings, bids and approvals before the site goes.
What happens to Blend loans? Blend stops matching new loans on 12 November. Borrowers must repay by then or let loans default; Blur promises a tool to withdraw assets from Blend afterwards.
Will BLUR be delisted? Blur did not say anything about exchange listings. BLUR still trades on Binance and OKX.
Why did Blur shut down? Blur gave no reason. The Block's data shows monthly volume fell from about $1.43 billion in March 2023 to under $7 million by March 2026.
