What is Decred?
Decred (DCR) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2016 that combines proof-of-work mining with proof-of-stake voting, where holders lock DCR in tickets to approve blocks and vote on rule changes. Part of each block reward goes to a treasury whose spending is decided by stakeholder votes. Supply is capped at 21 million coins, and the network offers optional privacy through its built-in StakeShuffle mixing.
