The short answer
Bitget's help centre no longer splits individual KYC into a numbered Level 1 and Level 2: there is one "Individual Verification" (country, ID type, full name, a photo of your ID and a face check), and once it is approved your 24-hour withdrawal limit is set by your VIP level, starting at 3 million USDT for VIP 0 and reaching 20 million USDT at VIP 7. Without verification you cannot deposit crypto or trade, because Bitget has required identity verification for those core services since 1 January 2024. What older guides call "Level 2" now maps to two follow-up requests Bitget sends to some accounts: a proof-of-address upload and, for higher-risk cases, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) on your source of funds.

Why searches still say "Level 1" and "Level 2"
For years exchanges described verification as a ladder, and many third-party guides still copy that wording. Bitget's own support pages today describe a single individual verification flow, available on the website and in the app, and a separate set of extra checks that only appear when compliance asks for them. Bitget's verification FAQ lists what a verified account gets: crypto and fiat deposits, P2P trading, the on-chain withdrawal function and stronger account security.
So the useful question is not "which level am I on" but "am I verified, what is my VIP level, and has Bitget opened a proof-of-address or EDD task on my account". You can see how Bitget's base fees and products sit against other venues on our Bitget exchange profile.
Levels, limits and documents at a glance

| Stage (common name) | What Bitget calls it | What it unlocks or changes | Withdrawal limit | What you provide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unverified ("no KYC") | Unverified account | No crypto deposits or trading since 1 Jan 2024 | 20,000 USDT a day for VIP 0, per Bitget's January 2025 academy guide | Email or phone sign-up only |
| "Level 1" | Individual Verification | Crypto and fiat deposits, trading, P2P, on-chain withdrawals | 3M USDT (VIP 0) to 20M USDT (VIP 7) per 24 hours | Country of residence, issuing country, ID type, full name, ID photos, face check |
| "Level 2" | Proof of Address (requested from some users) | Keeps account information current for regulatory reasons | Not stated as a limit change | One document under your name issued in the last three months |
| "Advanced" | Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) | Required for higher-risk customers or activity; late submission can temporarily restrict trading | Not stated as a limit change | Source of funds / source of wealth evidence |
What the individual verification asks for
On the website you click the profile icon, choose Identity Verification and press Verify under Individual Verification. In the app you tap Verify on the home screen, or open the account centre and tap the Unverified button. The flow then runs in the same order on both:
1. Pick your country or region of residence and the country that issued your document. Bitget notes that accepted ID types differ by country, and its academy guide warns that some countries only accept certain types, such as a national ID card. 2. Choose the ID type and type your full name exactly as printed. A middle name goes after the first name: John Michael Doe enters "John Michael" as first name and "Doe" as last name. 3. Photograph the document. On the website you scan a QR code and finish on your phone with camera access enabled. Bitget wants the front, the back for ID types that have one, and for passports the data page together with the facing page. 4. Complete the face check. Use a plain white background, even light without backlighting, no hat or glasses, and follow the prompts to turn your head or blink. 5. Submit. The status changes to Under Review and you get an email when it is approved or if more information is needed.
How long the review takes
Bitget gives three different answers on three pages, which is worth knowing before you open a ticket. The verification FAQ says reviews typically take up to 60 minutes and asks you to submit a ticket with your UID if it runs longer. The January 2025 academy guide says usually within one hour and no longer than four hours. The web and app step-by-step guides say processing typically takes one business day and suggest a ticket after that. In practice, check the Identity Verification page first, since the status shows at the top.
Withdrawal limits by VIP level after verification
Bitget's FAQ lists these 24-hour limits for verified users, and the VIP rows match the fee-tier data that Bitget's public API returned on 12 October 2026, which also shows the spot fees and a separate BTC cap per tier. VIP 0 spot fees come from our partner feed.

| VIP 7 | 20,000,000 | 500 | 0.00% / 0.03% |
For an ordinary account the jump that matters is from 20,000 USDT unverified to 3 million USDT verified, a 150-fold increase by our arithmetic. Bitget's 2025 academy guide put the top of the ladder at 15 million USDT; the current FAQ and API both show 20 million at VIP 7.
Proof of address: the check most people call "Level 2"
Bitget says some users are asked for proof of address for regulatory and compliance reasons. You start it from the identity verification page with "Update now", then "Start verification", and upload one document. It must show your full name, residential address and issue date, be issued within the last three months, and the name must match your KYC document. Accepted categories include government documents (an ID that shows your address, tax papers, voter registration, vehicle registration), utility bills including water, gas, telephone and internet bills, bank statements or mortgage papers, letters from an employer or school, and lease or tenancy agreements. Bitget adds that the list varies by jurisdiction.
Enhanced Due Diligence: the "advanced" check
EDD is an extra review for higher-risk customers, transactions or activity under anti-money-laundering rules. You pick your main source of funds or wealth and upload matching evidence: payslips or tax papers for salary, statements for savings and investments, profit and loss figures for a business, loan statements, probate papers for an inheritance, or written proof for a gift. Files can be JPG, PNG or PDF; split anything over 20 MB. Documents in other languages are accepted if the key details are readable, and you may mask unrelated transactions but not your name, address, account number or issuer. If EDD is not finished in time, features such as trading can be restricted until it is.
Rules that cause rejections
- One verified account per person. Reusing an ID on a second account is rejected; open sub-accounts instead, which inherit the main account's access.
- Five attempts per 24 hours, then a 24-hour wait.
- Colour images only, all four corners visible, no expired documents, both sides where needed.
- You must be 18 or older and not a politically exposed or sanctioned person.
- Restricted regions. Bitget does not serve residents of, among others, the United States and its territories, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, India, Kazakhstan, Iran, North Korea and Crimea, so an application from those places fails regardless of document quality.
If your nationality, ID or name changes, a reset makes the account unverified until the new check passes; it usually takes one to three business days, and verifying on a different UID needs approval and a 30-day wait. Trading history and assets are not affected.
How to act on this
Finish verification in the same session so deposits work straight away, then check how Bitget's tiers compare with OKX on our Bitget vs OKX comparison and keep the Bitget profile for current venue details. If you also use OKX, our OKX KYC level 1 vs level 2 guide explains how its single verification and fee-tier limits work.
What we could not verify
- Whether an unverified account can still make on-chain withdrawals today: the FAQ lists enabling them as a verification benefit, while the 2025 academy guide cites a 20,000 USDT unverified limit.
- The current withdrawal limit for unverified users in 2026; the 20,000 USDT figure comes from a January 2025 page.
- Country-specific document lists for Bitget's regional entities, such as its European operations.
- The rendered tables on bitget.com/fee, which load in the browser; we used Bitget's public fee-tier API instead.
