COMP is the governance token of Compound, one of the earliest lending protocols on Ethereum, where users supply crypto to shared pools or borrow against collateral. COMP holders propose and vote on changes such as which assets are supported and how interest-rate models work. Its supply is capped at 10 million, and distribution to protocol users began in June 2020.
