The short answer
On 8 October 2026, Securitize (NYSE: SECZ) launched Securitize Stocks, tokens on Solana that represent 12 large US stocks, including Apple, Nvidia, Tesla and Microsoft, for eligible investors in the US, the EU and other permitted countries. Each token is backed one-for-one by a real share and is a "security entitlement" under Article 8 of the Uniform Commercial Code, so holders receive dividends and, where the share class carries them, voting rights. You are not a registered shareholder unless you convert, which is only possible once the company itself adopts tokenization. Trading runs through Securitize's broker-dealer during extended hours, settles in USDC, and the promised NYSE and OKX-ICE venues have not launched.

Securitize says the tokens are also expected to trade on a 24/7 digital venue that the New York Stock Exchange is building and on the OKX-ICE Tokenized Securities Venue, a project combining OKX and Intercontinental Exchange. Its own disclosure is blunt: "The NYSE and OKXICE venues have not launched," and trading there depends on regulatory approval and may not happen.
What you own, and what you do not
The legal wording decides what you get, so it is worth reading slowly.
A security entitlement, not a share on the company's register. Under UCC Article 8, an entitlement is your claim against an intermediary, here Securitize Markets, that holds the actual share for you. That is the same structure most people already have at a normal broker. Securitize's disclosure states that holders "are not registered shareholders of the underlying issuer unless they convert."
Conversion depends on the company. Securitize calls its structure a convertible entitlement token. When an issuer adopts issuer-sponsored tokenization, holders can convert their entitlement into shares recorded on the company's own register, through Securitize's transfer-agent partners. None of the 12 issuers sponsored this product: the release says they "have not sponsored or endorsed Securitize Stocks."
Dividends and votes pass through. Because each token is backed by a real share, dividends are passed on, and votes where the share class has them. That is the main difference from products that only track a price.
No lending of the backing shares. Securitize says the shares behind the tokens will not be lent out, which removes one layer of counterparty risk that some funds and brokers carry.
How this compares with other ways to get stock exposure in crypto
NexuAlpha has covered several of these recently. The useful split is between owning an entitlement to a share and holding a contract on its price.
- Entitlement products like Securitize Stocks give you a claim on a real share, with dividends and possibly votes, inside a regulated broker structure and with eligibility checks.
- Exchange-issued tokenized stocks, such as the products we covered in OKX's unified tokenized stocks and Binance bStocks versus TradFi perps, each have their own legal wrapper and availability rules; read the specific terms.
- Stock perpetual futures, like those in our Bitget stock perps dividend explainer, are derivatives: no share is held for you, dividends are handled as funding-style adjustments, and leverage cuts both ways.
Securitize's chief executive Carlos Domingo framed the launch against the last two categories: tokenized stocks "should give investors more than a price on a wrapper that tracks a stock and is only offered offshore."
Why the market cared
Cointelegraph reported that Securitize's own shares rose about 10% on the day of the launch and roughly 54% over the past month, citing Yahoo Finance data. It also cited RWA.xyz figures showing distributed tokenized real-world assets, excluding stablecoins, at $38.88 billion, up from $25.36 billion a year earlier. Securitize says it manages about $5 billion in tokenized assets as of September 2026.
The launch also links several large names. Ripple Prime plans to support it and explore using the tokens in institutional trading, and Aave's founder said the tokens could become usable for lending and collateral. Neither use is live yet.
What to watch
1. Whether the NYSE and OKX-ICE venues launch, and when; both are still pending approval. 2. The move to 24/7 trading. Until then, prices outside extended hours will not update on Securitize's venue. 3. Issuer-sponsored tokenization. The first listed company to adopt it would make conversion to registered shares possible. 4. Eligibility by country. "Permitted jurisdictions" is not a list; check the onboarding page for yours.
How to act on this
If you want stock exposure with shareholder rights, an entitlement product like this, or a normal broker, fits that goal; check eligibility first. If what you want is short-term trading of a stock's price around the clock, a stock perpetual on a crypto exchange is a different tool with leverage and funding costs.
