GHO is a decentralized stablecoin issued by the Aave protocol and launched in 2023, designed to track the US dollar. Users mint GHO by borrowing it against crypto collateral deposited in Aave, so every unit is backed by more collateral value than it represents. Its borrowing rate and other parameters are set by Aave governance, and it is available on Ethereum and several other networks.
