What is Litecoin?
Litecoin (LTC) is one of the earliest cryptocurrencies, launched in 2011 by Charlie Lee as a lighter, faster variant of Bitcoin. It runs on its own proof-of-work blockchain using the Scrypt algorithm, with new blocks about every 2.5 minutes. LTC is used mainly for payments and transfers, and its supply is capped at 84 million coins, four times Bitcoin's.
