The short answer

For a new account, Binance and Bybit charge the same on spot (0.10% maker and 0.10% taker) and the same for futures maker orders (0.02%), but Bybit's futures taker fee is 0.055% against Binance's 0.05%. Binance also publishes a BNB discount (25% off spot, 10% off USDⓈ-M futures) and, through a partner referral, returns up to 25% of fees, which takes its futures taker cost to 0.0375%. Bybit publishes no percentage for its MNT fee option, and NexuAlpha has no confirmed rebate terms with Bybit, so at entry level Binance is the cheaper of the two for active futures traders.

The entry-level fee table

These are the standard rates for a regular (Binance) or VIP 0 (Bybit) account, with no token discount, taken from each exchange's official fee page. Binance's pages were read on 10 October 2026; Bybit's Trading Fee Structure article, last updated 2 September 2026, was re-read on 11 October 2026.

Spot, crypto-to-crypto0.10%0.10%0.10%0.10%
USDT perpetual futures0.02%0.05%0.02%0.055%

The only list-price difference is the futures taker fee: 0.005 percentage points, or 10% more per market order on Bybit. That sounds tiny, but taker orders are what most retail futures traders use, so it compounds with volume.

Bybit's page adds a warning that matters for readers outside the main markets: "the actual fee rates may vary depending on your region", and it tells users to check the My Fee Rate page after identity verification. Treat both tables as the global baseline, not a promise for every country.

Where Bybit charges more than its headline rate

Bybit runs several special trading zones with their own schedules, and new users often land in them without noticing:

  • Spot Adventure Zone and xStocks: 0.20% maker and 0.20% taker at VIP 0, double the normal spot rate.
  • Fiat-to-crypto spot pairs: 0.20% taker and 0.15% maker for VIP 0 accounts with under 100,000 USD of 30-day spot volume.
  • Pre-Market perpetuals: 0.04% maker and 0.10% taker.
  • Innovation Zone perpetuals: 0.04% maker and 0.11% taker.

If you mostly trade newly listed tokens or tokenized stocks on Bybit, your real fee is closer to these numbers than to the headline table. Binance has its own product-specific schedules too; the comparison here sticks to standard spot pairs and USDT perpetuals, which is where most volume sits.

Discounts: BNB versus MNT

Binance's official fee pages state a 25% discount on spot fees and a 10% discount on USDⓈ-M futures fees when fees are paid in BNB. Applied to the list prices, that gives 0.075% for spot and 0.018% maker / 0.045% taker on futures.

Bybit's fee article refers to paying fees with its MNT token through an "MNT Program", but the page we read states no discount percentage, so we cannot put a number on it. If you hold MNT, check the programme page inside your account before assuming a saving.

What a referral rebate changes

A referral rebate returns part of the trading fee you pay. NexuAlpha's partner feed lists Binance code 11350287 with a 25% share settled hourly. For Bybit, the same feed lists no confirmed share or settlement, so we show Bybit at list price.

Futures maker0.015%0.02%

The figures are list price multiplied by 0.75. We have not found an official statement on whether the BNB discount and a referral rebate stack, so we do not combine them; check your own fee history after a few trades.

Three monthly examples

A spot trader with 20,000 USDT of taker volume a month. Both exchanges charge 20 USDT at list price. With the Binance rebate the cost falls to 15 USDT.

A futures trader with 200,000 USDT of taker volume a month. Binance charges 100 USDT and Bybit 110 USDT at list price. With the rebate, Binance falls to 75 USDT, so the gap becomes 35 USDT a month, or 420 USDT over a year for the same trading.

A futures trader who uses resting limit orders for the same 200,000 USDT. Both charge 40 USDT at list price; with the rebate Binance falls to 30 USDT. Switching from market to limit orders saves more than switching exchanges, on either venue.

VIP tiers: when Bybit's table moves

Bybit's VIP level is set by either asset balance or 30-day volume, whichever qualifies for the higher tier, and it refreshes daily at 07:00 UTC. VIP 1 needs, for example, 100,000 USD of assets or 10 million USD of 30-day derivatives volume, and it cuts the futures taker fee to 0.04% and maker to 0.018%. Most retail accounts never reach that, which is why the VIP 0 row is the one to compare.

Costs the fee table leaves out

  • Funding. Both exchanges charge funding on perpetual positions with the same structure: an interest component of 0.01% per 8-hour interval plus a premium component, with the gap between them clamped at ±0.05%. Binance settles every 8 hours by default; Bybit's documentation uses the 8-hour interval as its standard example. On a position held for days, funding can outweigh trading fees, and a rebate does not touch it. Binance's BTCUSDT rate was −0.00085% at 05:57 UTC on 11 October, so shorts were paying longs a very small amount. Our funding-rate board shows current rates.
  • Spread and depth. A cheaper fee on a thinner order book can cost more in slippage on a large market order.
  • Availability. Both exchanges say products and services may not be available in every region. A cheaper venue you cannot legally use is not an option.

How to act on this

If you trade USDT perpetuals with market orders, the futures taker fee is the number that matters, and Binance is cheaper both at list price and after a rebate. Registering with Binance code 11350287 attaches the 25% hourly rebate, which has to happen at sign-up. Whichever exchange you use, the bigger saving is behavioural: rest limit orders where you can, and check funding before holding a leveraged position overnight. Quick answers

Is Bybit cheaper than Binance? Not at entry level. Spot and futures maker fees are equal; Bybit's futures taker fee is higher (0.055% vs 0.05%).

Does Bybit have a token discount like BNB? Bybit refers to paying fees in MNT, but its fee page states no percentage.

What is the Binance futures fee after a rebate? With a 25% rebate, 0.015% maker and 0.0375% taker on USDT perpetuals.

Do the rates differ by country? Bybit says actual rates may vary by region and should be checked on the My Fee Rate page after verification.

Method and limits

Rates are from the exchanges' official fee pages on the dates stated; rebate shares come from NexuAlpha's published partner feed. Effective rates are our arithmetic. Fees, discounts and partner terms change without notice, and we could not confirm whether the BNB discount stacks with a referral rebate or what Bybit's MNT option is worth. This is not investment advice. Partner links may earn NexuAlpha a commission paid by the exchange, at no extra cost to you.
