Price flat, balance down? Finish the last level with costs in mind

The price barely moved and I didn't close. Why is my balance lower?

Besides trading fees, perpetual contracts usually have a funding mechanism. When the rate is positive, longs usually pay shorts. When it's negative, it flips. It's not a fixed interest everyone pays to the exchange.

Say the position value at settlement is 1,000 and the rate is 0.01%. This fee is 0.10. It's based on the position value, not your first 100 of margin.

The interval and the rate can change by pair, platform and market. Don't remember it as 'every contract, every eight hours, forever'. And don't treat receiving funding as risk-free income.

The last level is practice only. First explain what you're trading and which direction. Then check the mode, size, margin, auto-add, exit plan and costs. If you don't understand one item, pause. Don't guess your way through the buttons.
