  1. Sam

My stop-loss is set, so I can only lose the amount I typed, right?

  2. Nexubo

A stop-loss runs your exit plan when a condition is met. It's not insurance. Being triggered doesn't mean you'll fill at that price, and it doesn't guarantee the loss stops exactly there.

  3. Narratore

After the trigger, a stop-market order exits at market. It prioritises getting out fast, but the price can slip. In fast or thin markets, the gap can be bigger.

  4. Nexubo

A stop-limit posts a limit order after the trigger. It caps the price you'll accept, but if the price races past, it may not sell at all. Neither one is always better. They're different trade-offs.

  5. Narratore

After setting them, check the direction, quantity and order status. For futures, also check which price triggers it, so your stop isn't placed where liquidation could come first.

  6. Sam

    Not guaranteed.

  7. Nexubo

Know its limits, and a stop-loss becomes a real plan, not a lucky charm.

  8. Narratore

Both say BTC. But one may not give you any bitcoin at all. Next: spot vs futures.

  9. Narratore

    Understand first, then act.
