Entry price
Definition
The entry price is the price at which a position starts, providing the reference for its later profit or loss.
How entry price works
Opening a futures position creates exposure from the actual execution price.
A quote seen before sending the order may differ from the fill, particularly when liquidity is thin. The entry therefore belongs in the trade record alongside position size and margin mode. Reading it together with the mark price helps explain floating results, while the liquidation estimate describes a separate risk boundary.
Example
A trader submits a market buy during a fast move, then uses the recorded fill rather than the earlier chart quote to review the trade.
