BNB down 6.23%, low $678.13: what holders should check

7 min

The short answer

BNB fell 6.23% intraday and touched $678.13, PANews reported at 05:53 SGT on October 30, citing OKX prices; its quoted price was $703.55. A later OKX BNB-USDT snapshot at 08:39:40 SGT still recorded a $678.13 rolling 24-hour low, with a last price of 692.01 USDT. For holders, the immediate checks are the price and product used to value their position, any pending transfers, and the official updates on the suspected Binance wallet incident. PANews's early market report

This follows our earlier report on the suspected Binance outflow and stablecoin freezes. The new focus here is BNB's price, independently checked against OKX's public ticker, and how to read that move without converting a falling token price into a finding about exchange solvency or a customer's missing funds. Odaily separately published the $678.13 low, $703.55 quote and 6.23% decline at 05:54 SGT. Odaily's BNB report

Two observations, two different measurement windows

The early reports and our later snapshot describe different moments. PANews and Odaily used the phrase “intraday” for their percentage. The OKX response gives an explicit rolling 24-hour opening price, a last traded price and a timestamp. Keep those labels attached when comparing the figures.

Our calculation from that later ticker is (692.01 ÷ 758.04 − 1) × 100 = −8.71%, rounded to two decimal places. It describes BNB-USDT on OKX over the response's rolling window. The table preserves the source unit: the newsrooms used dollars; the exchange ticker is denominated in USDT. We have not substituted one instrument's return for another's.

The later price also shows why an earlier news quote needs its time. Writing that BNB “is at $703.55” throughout the morning would turn a historical observation into a live-price claim. Here, $703.55 belongs to the early report, while 692.01 USDT belongs to the recorded OKX snapshot. Readers comparing their screen with this article should compare the instrument and timestamp before interpreting the difference.

BNB underperformed BTC in the early report

PANews put BTC at $79,117, down 3.25% over the period it described. Its BNB decline of 6.23% was therefore 2.98 percentage points larger: 6.23 − 3.25 = 2.98. Odaily carried the same BTC and BNB figures. This establishes a reported relative move within those reports; it does not measure the whole market or identify the trades responsible. PANews's BNB and BTC comparison

For someone holding both assets, that comparison helps separate two questions: how much the portfolio moved with BTC, and how much BNB moved relative to that reference. A portfolio calculation should use holdings and prices taken at the same time. Combining an earlier BTC quote with a later BNB quote would introduce a timing difference into the comparison.

The gap also cannot tell us how many sellers were responding to the wallet reports. Neither opened newsroom item provides an order-by-order explanation, a survey of traders, or a decomposition of BNB's return. An event and a price decline appearing in the same report supply context. Establishing the cause of the decline requires more evidence.

The rebound from the low is a separate calculation

The early $703.55 quote was $25.42 above the reported $678.13 low. Relative to that low, the difference is about 3.75%: (703.55 − 678.13) ÷ 678.13 × 100. That calculation can sit beside a negative intraday return because the two percentages start from different prices. Odaily's quoted prices

A reader deciding whether a position recovered should use their own purchase price or position entry. A move above the day's low does not establish that the position is profitable. Equally, a negative daily figure does not say that every buyer during that day is losing money. Record the entry, quantity and current valuation price together before calculating the position's change.

Avoid turning $678.13 into a promised floor. It is the low in the opened reports and in the later OKX rolling-window response. Those observations do not establish where a future trade will execute, how much buying interest exists at that level, or whether the price will revisit it. A historical low is useful for describing the observed range; an order decision needs the currently available market screen.

Keep the wallet incident separate from your transfer record

The early PANews and Odaily reports describe a suspected attack involving Binance's hot wallet. They also attribute to Binance a statement that a technical error had blocked some users' withdrawals and that recovery work was underway. We have opened those newsroom reports, not an original Binance statement establishing the current condition of every withdrawal network. Odaily's incident context

Treat the incident as suspected in this account. The reports' description of outflows does not, by itself, establish stolen funds, a final customer loss, or the condition of a particular account. We do not use BNB's price as a substitute for any of those missing findings. Nor do the opened reports establish a final recovery time for a transfer that is still pending.

If you have a withdrawal awaiting completion, open the account through your saved application or bookmark. Save the asset, network, requested amount, request time, order identifier and any transaction hash displayed. Compare the platform's displayed status with the receiving account's record. If you contact support, describe that specific transfer and keep the response beside its identifier; a general news headline cannot resolve an individual order.

If no transaction hash is displayed, record that fact and the exact status text. If a hash is displayed, use the appropriate network explorer to examine that transaction. Do not infer from another person's completed transfer that yours used the same network or passed the same processing stage.

Check exposure before adding another trade

Start with your existing BNB quantity and the instrument that carries it. A spot balance, a pending transfer and a derivatives position require different records. Write down which of those you actually have before treating the 6.23% headline as an instruction to trade. The opened sources supply market observations, not your position settings or your available collateral.

For a derivatives position, read the position screen's valuation price, margin and liquidation fields before changing size. Compare the funding information for that exact contract and period with the NexuAlpha funding board. A current board reading should be saved with its own time if you use it in a decision.

The NexuAlpha liquidations board is another check on the period you are examining. Select the time window and venue before comparing a total with the BNB story. Compare the selected window with the event time before interpreting a total. Save the selected filters with any number you cite or compare.

If you are considering an additional order, inspect the confirmation screen before submitting it. Check the pair, direction, quantity and order type. Use the execution record to update your position calculation after a fill; the article's earlier quote cannot tell you the price that your own order received.

Do not follow a compensation link sent in a message

An unsolicited message offering “Binance compensation” should not become the route into your account. Open the service through the app or address you already use, then check the official information available there. Do not supply a recovery phrase, password or verification code to someone who contacts you about this incident. Do not approve a wallet transaction simply because a message claims that an exchange needs it to release compensation.

This is a reader precaution. The opened reports do not verify a compensation programme, a claim deadline, or a payment that a customer must make. We therefore provide no claim link and no application instructions for such an offer. If you receive a message, keep its text and sender details for your own support record without following its links.

A promise to recover money also cannot resolve whether a transfer was broadcast, whether its network is supported by the receiving account, or whether the platform has processed the request. Return to the order identifier and the official account record. Those are the records to preserve while the incident develops.

What would change this account

The useful next evidence is specific: an original statement defining the incident's scope, a timestamped notice about the withdrawal network you use, or a new independently observable market reading. A final loss figure or a confirmed technical explanation would require its own source. A later BNB quote can update the market picture while leaving those incident questions unresolved.

For now, the independently checked detail is the $678.13 reported low, also present as 678.13 USDT in OKX's later BNB-USDT ticker. The early 6.23% decline and later calculated 8.71% rolling decline belong to their respective windows. Preserve those labels when comparing the price move with your holdings or sharing the figures with another reader.

Quick answers

Which price belongs to the 6.23% report?

The early reports pair the 6.23% decline with a $703.55 quote and a $678.13 low. The later 692.01 USDT value belongs to our separately timestamped OKX snapshot. PANews

Does the low establish a trading floor?

The sources establish an observed low. They do not establish future liquidity or an execution price for another order. Read the current order confirmation before submitting a trade.

What should I save about a pending withdrawal?

Save the asset, network, amount, request time, order identifier, displayed status and any transaction hash. Use those records when asking support about the specific transfer.
