Silver Falls 2.63% to $52.228 as XAG Perpetuals Trade Lower

7 min

The short answer

Silver fell 2.63% intraday to $52.228 an ounce, Odaily reported at 21:31 SGT on October 29, citing Gate data. For traders looking at silver perpetuals, the immediate check is the specific XAG contract in their account: later Bitget and OKX snapshots also showed lower prices, but their 24-hour measurements differ from the intraday figure in the news report. Odaily's October 29 market report.

Bitget's XAGUSDT last price was 52.65 USDT at 23:31:10 SGT. Its reported 24-hour change was -0.01955, equivalent to -1.955%. OKX's XAG-USDT-SWAP last price was 52.64 USDT at the same second, compared with a 24-hour opening value of 53.70. The calculation, (52.64 ÷ 53.70 − 1) × 100, gives a decline of about 1.974%. Bitget's futures market snapshot. The second observation comes from OKX's swap market snapshot.

These readings give a crypto-exchange user two current contract references alongside the earlier silver report. The opened sources do not identify a verified cause for the decline. There is no basis here to attribute it to a particular economic release, central-bank statement or liquidation event.

Three observations with different labels

The $52.228 figure belongs to the silver observation attributed to Gate in Odaily's report. The 52.65 and 52.64 figures belong to named USDT perpetual contracts. Keep those product labels when comparing a headline with a trading screen.

OKX XAG-USDT-SWAP52.64 USDT; calculated approximately -1.974% over 24 hours23:31:10

Odaily's headline rounds the silver decline to 2.6%, while its body gives the more precise 2.63% used here. The report labels that change as intraday. Neither exchange snapshot reproduces the start and end points of that observation, so their figures cannot be substituted into the headline as a correction to the earlier report. The source's price and intraday percentage.

The two perpetual last prices are close to each other: 52.65 minus 52.64 equals 0.01 USDT. That arithmetic alone says nothing about an executable cross-exchange trade. A last trade, the available buying price and the available selling price are separate fields. At the captured moment, Bitget reported a 52.66 bid and a 52.67 ask; OKX reported a 52.64 bid and a 52.65 ask. Those are observations to compare with a fresh order screen, rather than a set of prices to reuse later.

Bitget confirms XAGUSDT, including a live contract record

Bitget's official metals and commodity announcement names XAGUSDT among the contracts affected by its base-interest-rate change. The public contract response opened for this report also contains XAGUSDT, identifies it as a perpetual, lists USDT as its supported margin coin and gives its status as normal. That combination establishes a named product in the exchange's documentation and its current public contract record. Bitget's official metals announcement. The current record appears in Bitget's contract specifications response.

The same contract response lists a four-hour funding interval. It also lists a minimum trade value of 5 USDT and a minimum trade quantity of 0.01. Before entering an order, read the contract size and the order preview together; a minimum quantity is a product parameter, not a suggested position size.

For venue research, start with the Bitget exchange profile, then locate XAGUSDT in the account you actually use. The public record does not settle whether that product is available to a particular account. Confirm the displayed instrument and margin asset before comparing an order with the news price.

A trader who already holds XAGUSDT has a more immediate task: inspect the position's quantity, margin settings and next funding time. The 2.63% news figure does not describe the account's profit or loss. That requires the position's own entry and current valuation, along with its recorded costs.

Zero base interest does not mean zero funding

Bitget reduced the base-interest component for XAGUSDT and other named metals and commodity contracts from 0.01% to 0%, effective May 6 at 20:00 SGT. Its announcement explicitly says the funding rate will not always be zero. The premium component continues to affect funding as the futures price moves relative to the underlying index. Bitget's explanation of the funding components.

The distinction matters in this snapshot. Bitget's XAGUSDT ticker returned a fundingRate value of 0.000142, equivalent to 0.0142%, alongside the 52.65 last price. Read that as the rate field captured at 23:31:10 SGT. It does not establish the rate at every later settlement or a fixed cost of holding silver exposure.

A useful account check is to compare the live funding display with the contract's settlement schedule before leaving a position open. Keep the fee charged for opening or closing an order separate from a funding payment. The official announcement discusses the funding calculation; it does not promise cost-free trading or holding.

The four-hour interval in the current contract response also means a reader should inspect the XAGUSDT schedule itself rather than assume an interval from a different perpetual product. There is no need to multiply the captured rate into a daily or annual forecast. Future rate observations are needed for future settlements.

OKX's silver perpetual follows its commodity framework

OKX's official Commodity Perpetuals guide lists XAGUSDT with silver spot as the underlying. The market response uses the instrument identifier XAG-USDT-SWAP. The guide describes these products as perpetual swap contracts that track commodity prices without requiring the holder to hold physical commodities or traditional delivery contracts. OKX's Commodity Perpetuals guide.

OKX says its commodity perpetuals trade around the clock. The guide also explains that traditional commodity markets do not operate continuously, so index and mark-price arrangements matter when external reference markets are closed. Its index uses multiple components, and the mix can rely more heavily on crypto-perpetual prices during traditional-market off-hours.

This is relevant when comparing an XAG perpetual screen with a silver news quotation. A trader should look at the instrument's index and mark-price information alongside the last trade. The guide states that the ordinary perpetual rules for mark prices and price limits apply. It also says commodity perpetuals use the margin, funding and liquidation rules of other swaps of the same margin type unless specified otherwise.

The guide describes USDT margin and settlement and supports both isolated and cross-margin modes. That makes the margin setting a specific item to inspect before confirming an order. It is also a reason to distinguish the 52.64 USDT contract observation from the dollar-per-ounce quotation carried in the news report.

What this means for you

  1. Open the silver contract screen before changing an existing order. On Bitget, verify XAGUSDT and USDT margin; the current public specification is the reference used here. Compare the current last trade with the bid and ask, then examine the position or order preview rather than copying the 21:31 SGT headline price into an instruction.
  1. Next, check the funding display and its settlement time. The captured Bitget rate and four-hour interval belong to a specific observation and product record. On OKX, inspect the current schedule for XAG-USDT-SWAP: its guide says funding intervals can vary by product and funding applies when a position is held at settlement.

If you are comparing venues before using a product, the Bitget profile and venue details offer a separate place to review the exchange. For the silver order itself, stay with the contract specifications and account screen. This report verifies the public instruments and quoted market fields; the account's displayed access and order conditions still need to be checked there.

  1. For an open position, save the entry price, quantity and margin setting before making a change. Compare those records with the current mark and the planned order. A market headline offers context for that review, while the account record answers how much exposure is actually open.

Before submitting a replacement order, compare its quantity with the position you intend to change. Keep the original order record available while reviewing the preview. This is a check of your own instruction: the published market snapshot cannot determine whether an account order has the intended amount or margin setting. If you are reviewing both exchanges, keep their contract identifiers in separate notes so that a price or funding field from one product is not accidentally attached to the other.

The next useful update is a comparable observation

A later price update is most useful when it identifies the same product, the time and the measurement window. A new Bitget XAGUSDT quote can be compared with the 23:31:10 SGT snapshot. A new intraday silver report can be compared with Odaily's 21:31 SGT account after checking how its source defines the day.

The report and the exchange responses establish the decline and the available contract references. They do not establish why silver fell. A sourced explanation would need its own reporting; the simultaneous fall in two perpetual contracts supplies price confirmation, not a cause.

For the next review, retain the original time labels with each number. That preserves the distinction between the reported 2.63% intraday silver move and the roughly 1.96% to 1.97% 24-hour declines in the later perpetual snapshots.
