Can You Trade MCD, JPM, V and GS With USDT on OKX? Stock Perpetuals Explained

7 min

The short answer

OKX announced USDT-margined stock perpetuals for MCD, JPM, V and GS on October 16, 2026. These contracts provide exposure to stock-price movements; they do not deliver company shares, shareholder votes or ordinary stock dividends. Before trading, check regional availability, the exact contract specification, margin mode and next funding time in your account. The listing notice and linked funding documentation disagree about automatic funding-frequency changes, so neither statement should be treated as a verified live parameter for these contracts.

What did OKX announce?

The official listing notice schedules four launches across the web interface, app and API. Its settlement currency is USDT, and it describes the products as stock perpetual futures. The published schedule is historical by the time of this report; an announced opening time does not establish that a particular account can currently access a market.

JPM/USDT perpetual09:15 UTCUSDT
V/USDT perpetual09:30 UTCUSDT
GS/USDT perpetual09:45 UTCUSDT

Treat those names as derivative identifiers. Searching a ticker alone can lead to an ordinary share, a tokenized security, another venue's perpetual or an unrelated cryptoasset. Confirm the product label and venue before reading a price quote as the price of the contract you intend to use. The notice itself does not establish a maximum leverage level, minimum order amount or account-specific trading fee.

Are these tokenized stocks or actual shares?

OKX's stock-perpetuals documentation says these are perpetual swap contracts tracking publicly traded stock prices. You trade the movement using USDT collateral, without owning the underlying shares. The contract has no expiry date, but remaining open depends on margin requirements and funding payments. An absence of expiry does not mean an unlimited holding period without further cost.

This distinction changes the decision a retail reader is making. Someone seeking shareholder voting rights or ordinary dividends has a different requirement from someone seeking a leveraged long or short position. The same documentation explicitly says stock perpetuals do not provide dividends or voting rights. A familiar ticker does not turn a derivatives position into a shareholding or a claim to withdraw a stock certificate.

Our tokenized-stocks hub helps separate product structures. For a broader comparison, see tokenized stocks versus stock perpetuals. Read any instrument's rights and exit terms separately: a transferable token, a broker-held share and an exchange perpetual may reference a similar underlying price while creating different claims and obligations.

Why can the price move when the stock market is closed?

The launch notice states that trading is available around the clock. The stock-perpetuals guide explains that the underlying US stock market is closed on weekends and market holidays, while the perpetual can continue trading. That creates a useful access window, but it also creates a pricing question: what information supports the derivative price while ordinary shares are not trading?

OKX describes a composite index using several kinds of inputs, including stock-price feeds, stock perpetual prices and exchange-derived prices. During off-hours, weekends and holidays, the index relies more on its own contract price and other exchanges' stock-perpetual index prices. It is therefore not described as a one-to-one copy of a single stock exchange quotation.

For a weekend order, compare the order-book bid and ask, the index price and the mark price. They answer different questions: what another trader currently offers, what the reference calculation produces and what the venue uses for position valuation. The guide warns that off-hours liquidity may be lower and spreads wider. This is a product-risk warning, not evidence that today's MCD, JPM, V or GS market has a measured spread or a particular level of depth.

A limit order can state the price you are prepared to accept. It cannot ensure a fill, preserve index alignment or prevent liquidation after the position opens. Do not interpret a market that is technically open as a promise that a large order can exit cheaply.

What is unresolved about funding?

There is a specific inconsistency in the official material. The four-contract listing notice gives an eight-hour funding settlement interval and says reaching the cap or floor can change settlement to hourly. The linked current funding-fee mechanism guide, however, says automatic frequency adjustment applies only to crypto perpetuals; traditional financial assets, including equities, ETFs and commodities, are excluded and retain their contract default.

Those statements cannot both be used as an unqualified instruction for these stock contracts. We have not inspected an eligible logged-in account or verified the current funding configuration of each instrument. The practical response is to check the contract-information panel, next settlement time and current rate for the exact market, and obtain clarification from OKX if the displayed treatment conflicts with the notice. Do not budget a holding period using a guaranteed hourly-switch assumption.

The general mechanism guide distinguishes funding from a platform trading fee. Positive funding sends payment from long positions to shorts; negative funding reverses the direction. It also explains that the obligation depends on holding a position at assessment and that the rate and timing can matter to the cost of carrying a position. These are mechanism descriptions, not a forecast that either side of the four new markets will receive income.

A practical check before placing an order

1. Open OKX through your normal verified route and check whether the product is available for your jurisdiction and account. The announcement explicitly asks readers to check regional availability in the app. 2. Search the exact ticker and select the USDT-margined perpetual. Read the instrument label instead of assuming the first search result is the intended stock exposure. 3. Open the contract specification. Record the minimum quantity, contract size, price increment, available leverage and funding schedule actually shown. This report does not substitute guessed values for those fields. 4. Inspect the margin mode before entering an amount. OKX documents both isolated and cross margin support; the appropriate choice depends on which collateral the position may use and how much exposure you intend to maintain. 5. Compare the bid, ask, index and mark price, especially outside the underlying stock market's normal session. A price chart alone does not show the cost of immediately entering and leaving an order. 6. Check the next funding assessment, choose an order type and review the amount, liquidation exposure and estimated costs. If the funding-frequency conflict is unresolved, pause the order and ask for contract-specific clarification. 7. After any order you choose to place, distinguish an accepted order from an executed fill. Keep the fill record, margin setting and funding history so later costs can be reconciled with the original decision.

These are editorial checks, not steps we performed with a trading account. The OKX venue overview provides related platform context; product availability still needs to be established in the account where the order would be entered.

Frequently asked questions

Does buying MCD/USDT on this screen give me stock dividends?

The stock-perpetuals guide says perpetual holders do not receive dividends or voting rights. The product tracks a stock's price movement as a derivative. If shareholder benefits are your objective, check the legal rights of the product you actually need before using a perpetual ticker as a substitute.

Is USDT collateral the same as paying the full share price?

No. The announcement identifies a USDT-margined derivative. The margin amount, contract value and maximum possible position exposure are separate fields. Verify the contract size and selected leverage rather than inferring a share count from the amount of collateral entered.

Can I trade over the weekend?

The official product material describes round-the-clock trading, including weekends. Your region and account must still be eligible. The same guide warns about thinner liquidity and wider spreads when the underlying market is closed; continuous availability does not guarantee an efficient exit.

Is the funding interval definitely eight hours forever?

No permanent schedule is established here. Eight hours appears in the launch notice, but the sources conflict about automatic changes, and the guide directs readers to current contract specifications. Check the next assessment for the exact contract instead of treating this article as a live funding clock.

Does a US stock ticker mean US residents can use it?

No. The product guide says stock-perpetual access may be restricted or prohibited in some jurisdictions, including the United States. A product referencing a US company does not establish service eligibility for a US resident or for any other reader.

Facts, interpretation and unknowns

Verified facts are the published four-contract schedule, USDT settlement, the derivative ownership boundary and the wording of the official funding conflict. Our interpretation is that contract identification, off-hours execution and funding checks are the most useful retail decisions created by the launch. Unknowns include live availability, individual eligibility, current leverage limits, actual spreads and the funding configuration of each contract. No live order or fill was observed.
