UXLINK-Linked Wallet Holds 30,282 ETH Long, Reports Say

7 min

The short answer

A wallet that analyst Yu Jin links to the UXLINK attacker held a 30,282 ETH long on Hyperliquid, with a reported position value of $70.25 million and $5.62 million in unrealized profit. PANews and Odaily reported the observation on October 27; both attribute the underlying wallet analysis to the same analyst. For an ETH trader, the useful checks are the position's size, entry price and margin conditions, rather than treating its paper profit as a reason to copy it. PANews, Odaily

The reports put the entry price at $2,134. Odaily's page displays 10:36 SGT on October 27. These figures describe the reported observation, rather than a fresh execution price for a reader opening an order now. Hyperliquid's documentation defines unrealized profit using the mark price, entry price and position size, so that profit changes when those inputs change. What the wallet reports actually establish

PANews reports the exact position size as 30,282 ETH. Odaily rounds it to about 30,300 ETH in its Chinese headline and body. Both give the same reported dollar position value, entry price and unrealized profit. The exact quantity in this article comes from PANews; the rounded version in Odaily should not be treated as evidence of a separate trade or an increase in the wallet's position.

The last two rows belong to the analyst's reported account history. They should be read separately from the open position's $5.62 million unrealized profit. The reports do not provide a full transaction ledger explaining how the historical profit figure overlaps with the current open trade. Adding the two figures would produce a total that the opened reports do not establish.

The UXLINK link comes from an analyst's tracing

Both outlets describe the trader as the hacker who took about $40 million from UXLINK the previous year. That identification is attributed to Yu Jin. Odaily supplies the tracing detail: about a month earlier, the source address for the trading funds and a known UXLINK hacker address sent their remaining ETH gas balances to the same wallet on the same day. PANews describes a direct funding overlap with known UXLINK hacker addresses. Odaily, PANews

That is the evidence described by the reports for the attribution. The opened articles do not present a court finding or an independently reproduced wallet investigation. Keeping the attribution attached to the analyst lets readers distinguish the reported trading position from the claim about who controls it. The identity claim should not silently become a finding by Hyperliquid or NexuAlpha.

Two news pages also do not create two independent observations of the wallet. Here, both name the same upstream analyst and repeat the same position figures. They corroborate what was reported, while independent verification of the address, open position and trading history would require a separately checked account record. Neither article gives enough account information in its readable text to reproduce that check here.

How $5.62 million of paper profit is calculated

Hyperliquid's official documentation defines a long position's unrealized profit as the difference between mark price and entry price, multiplied by position size. Its formula is side × (mark price − entry price) × position size, with the side equal to one for a long. This gives a way to understand the headline without inventing a new market quote. Using the reported inputs, $5,620,000 divided by 30,282 ETH is approximately $185.59 per ETH. Adding that difference to the reported $2,134 entry gives an implied mark price of about $2,319.59. This is our arithmetic on rounded report figures. It is a consistency check, rather than a separately observed ETH price. Sources: PANews report; Hyperliquid Docs, “Entry price and pnl.”

The reported position value gives a similar check: $70,250,000 divided by 30,282 ETH is approximately $2,319.86 per ETH. The rounded inputs do not reconcile exactly. The reports do not supply the unrounded mark, exact observation instant or complete position export needed to explain the difference. Neither calculation should replace a current price shown in a trading account. PANews

For a fixed 30,282 ETH position, a $1 change in mark price changes the formula's unrealized result by $30,282. A hypothetical $10 change therefore corresponds to $302,820. This calculation holds size and entry price constant; it describes sensitivity, without predicting the direction or size of ETH's next move. Hyperliquid also says entry price, unrealized profit and closed profit are frontend calculations; its fundamental accounting follows margin and trades. Opening trades that increase a position change its entry price to a size-weighted average. Closing trades keep that entry price unchanged. A later screenshot can therefore differ because of an added trade, a reduced position or a changed mark.

Position value does not reveal the collateral

The $70.25 million figure describes reported exposure. Hyperliquid's margin documentation gives initial margin as position size multiplied by mark price, divided by leverage. Without the wallet's leverage setting and margin information, the report does not establish how much collateral supports this particular position. The earlier consolidation of 11.54 million USDC cannot simply be substituted for a current margin balance. PANews; source: Hyperliquid Docs, “Margining.”

The distinction matters when comparing the reported wallet with a reader's own ETH trade. Hyperliquid supports cross margin, which shares collateral across cross positions, and isolated margin, which confines collateral to an asset's position. Its documentation describes different inputs for cross and isolated liquidation calculations. The articles do not identify which arrangement applies to the reported wallet. Source: Hyperliquid Docs, “Margining”; Odaily.

Under cross margin, account value includes unrealized profit when assessed against maintenance requirements. Under isolated margin, the computation uses the isolated margin and the notional value of that position. A headline with size and profit alone leaves both the liquidation threshold and the account's other exposures unresolved. Quoting a liquidation price for this wallet would require information absent from the opened reports. Source: Hyperliquid Docs, “Margining.”

Checks for an existing ETH position

  1. On Hyperliquid, open your own ETH position screen. Record its quantity, average entry, current mark and unrealized result together. Compare those fields with one another before comparing them with the reported wallet. Hyperliquid's published formula makes this a practical check: a different entry or position size produces a different result even when both accounts face the same mark price.
  1. Check the margin mode and the collateral attached to your Hyperliquid position. For isolated positions, the documentation describes adding or removing margin after opening; for cross positions, collateral is shared across the relevant cross positions. The useful comparison is how your account supports its exposure. The reported wallet's dollar profit does not provide that information about your account. Source: Hyperliquid Docs, “Margining.”

If you are following the broader ETH derivatives market, use the funding-rate board and liquidation board as separate places to inspect market conditions. Compare each board’s observation time with the 10:36 SGT news report. Keep wallet exposure separate from market-wide funding and liquidation totals. Odaily report

Before transferring funds out of the account, check the remaining margin rather than comparing the withdrawal amount with the displayed profit. Hyperliquid's documentation says remaining margin must meet initial margin requirements and be at least 10% of total open position value. The applicable requirement is the higher of those amounts. Its definition of a transfer includes withdrawals, transfers to a spot wallet and isolated margin transfers. For this reported wallet, the missing current collateral and other-position information prevents calculating an available withdrawal amount. For your own account, record those fields alongside the transfer you are considering. Source: Hyperliquid Docs, “Margining.”

What a useful follow-up would add

A later report would add information if it supplied a reproducible account record, a changed ETH position size, a completed closing trade or an updated margin balance. Each would answer a different question: who controls the account, how much exposure remains, what has been booked, or how the remaining trade is funded. Those details would let a follow-up go beyond repeating the same dollar profit. The opened reports currently supply the analyst's attributed snapshot and abbreviated trading history.

For readers already holding an ETH long, the immediate task is narrower: compare the account's current mark, size and margin with the values used when the trade was opened. Hyperliquid's documentation identifies those inputs as the basis of profit and margin calculations. Preserve the report's timestamp when recording the news; use a current account observation when deciding what, if anything, to change in your own open order or position.
