Binance Adds BlackBerry, MongoDB, Penguin Solutions and UVXY bStocks: How to Trade Them, Zero Maker Fees to 31 October, and How Collateral Works

7 min

The short answer

Binance opened four new tokenized US stocks on 14 October 2026 at 12:00 UTC (20:00 SGT): BlackBerry (BBB), MongoDB (MDBB), Penguin Solutions (PENGB) and the ProShares Ultra VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (UVXYB), each traded against USDT on Spot and Convert. Maker fees on the four pairs are zero until 31 October 23:59 UTC, and from the same minute all four count as collateral in Cross Margin, Portfolio Margin and Portfolio Margin Pro, although you cannot borrow them yet. Liquidity on day one is thin, so limit orders are the right tool, both for price and for the fee.

What exactly went live

Binance published two announcements on 14 October. The first lists the four bStocks trading pairs and switches on Spot Algo Trading Bots at listing time, with Rebalancing Bots to follow within 24 hours. The second adds the same four tokens as eligible collateral in its margin products.

Key times, all from the official notices:

  • Trading opened: 14 October 2026, 12:00 UTC.
  • Withdrawals opened: 14 October 2026, 13:00 UTC, to any compatible BNB Smart Chain wallet.
  • Convert: bStocks can be swapped against BTC, USDT and other tokens on Binance Convert at zero fees, starting within an hour of the spot listing.
  • Zero maker fees: from listing to 31 October 2026, 23:59 UTC, on the four pairs only.
  • Collateral: from 14 October 12:00 UTC in Cross Margin, Portfolio Margin and Portfolio Margin Pro; the four pairs are also open for margin trading, but borrowing these tokens is not supported for now.

Always check the full contract address in the Binance announcement (our tokenized stocks page links the official sources) before you send a token on-chain; the prefixes above only help you spot an obvious fake.

What a bStock is, in plain words

A bStock is a BNB Smart Chain token issued by BTech Holdings Limited, a Binance group affiliate, under a prospectus approved in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). Binance says each token is backed 1:1 by a real US share held at a regulated custodian, and you can convert between a share and its bStock at 1:1 with no conversion fee. You get price exposure, not the share itself: bStocks do not give you shareholder rights or direct ownership of the company.

Three practical features matter to a retail trader:

1. 24/7 trading. The token trades around the clock on Binance Spot, even when Nasdaq is closed. 2. Dividends are reinvested automatically. Binance adjusts a "Multiplier" so the net dividend shows up in the token's value, after US withholding tax (currently 30%). 3. Small tickets. Binance says you can start from about $5 of exposure.

bStocks are not available to US persons or to anyone in the United States, and they are offered only in jurisdictions Binance permits. If the pair does not show in your app, that is the reason.

Day one: how much is actually trading

We read Binance's public market data at 20:54 UTC on 14 October, about nine hours after the listing and just after the US close:

Article table: scroll horizontally, or focus the table area and use the arrow keys.

PairLast price24 h change24 h volumeBid–ask spreadAsk depth within 1%
BBB/USDT$8.19−3.3%$303,8870.49%$391
MDBB/USDT$354.89−4.9%$64,3110.36%$559
PENGB/USDT$67.06−14.2%$251,3510.31%$54,738
UVXYB/USDT$16.69+4.7%$101,1310.24%$56,721
CRCLB/USDT (for comparison)$79.32−6.2%$18.79 M0.01%$104,772

Two things stand out. First, the books are shallow: on BBB and MDBB there were only a few hundred dollars of offers within 1% of the mid price, so a market buy of a few thousand dollars would sweep well above the last trade. Compare that with the older Circle bStock, CRCLB, which traded almost $19 million with a one-hundredth-of-a-percent spread. Second, PENGB fell 14% on a day when chip and AI-infrastructure stocks sold off hard after the hot September CPI report; we covered that move in why chip stocks are down today.

How to buy a new bStock without overpaying

1. Check you are eligible. Open Spot and search the ticker (for example MDBB). If it does not appear, your region is not supported. 2. Use a limit order, not a market order. With a 0.3–0.5% spread and thin offers, a limit order at or just below the best ask controls your price. Until 31 October a resting limit order is also a maker order, which pays zero fee on these four pairs. 3. Watch the US session. The token trades 24/7, but its fair value moves when the US market is open. Outside those hours there is no live share price to anchor it. 4. Size small at first. On BBB and MDBB, split a large order into several small ones and let them fill. 5. Use Convert only for small amounts. Convert is fee-free, but the quote you get still reflects the thin order book.

Using bStocks as collateral: the rules that can bite

Collateral means you can post BBB, MDBB, PENGB or UVXYB in a Cross Margin or Portfolio Margin account and borrow other assets against them. Binance's FAQ and risk guide set out several rules:

  • Suitability test for VIP 0–2. Regular, VIP 1 and VIP 2 users must pass a suitability questionnaire before moving bStocks into margin or trading bStocks on margin. You can retry twice right away; a third failure starts a 24-hour cooldown.
  • Extra risk controls for VIP 0–2. Binance groups your other coins into high, medium and low liquidity tiers by their Portfolio Margin collateral rate (60% or more, 40–60%, under 40%). If bStocks make up 60% or more of your collateral-adjusted net assets, are worth at least $100, and your effective leverage on low-liquidity coins goes above 2x (or above 5x on medium-liquidity coins), the account is restricted. If the restriction lasts seven days in a row, Binance may demand immediate repayment of margin loans.
  • Weekend prices are frozen. The collateral value uses a bStocks index price. During US trading hours, including pre-market and after-hours, it blends third-party US market prices with Binance futures prices. On weekends, holidays and maintenance windows it stays at the last valid close until trading resumes, and Binance warns that prices can jump at the reopen.

That last point is the real risk. If MongoDB reports bad news on a Friday evening, your collateral will still be valued at the old price all weekend and then reset on Monday, which can drop your margin level in one step. Our explainer on how liquidation and mark price work covers what happens to your positions when that margin level falls.

What UVXYB is, and why it behaves differently

UVXYB tracks a ProShares fund built on short-term VIX futures, with leverage, not a company. It tends to jump when markets fall and fear spikes, which is why it rose about 5% while the three company bStocks fell. Treat it as a short-term hedge against a sell-off, not as a long-term holding: its price follows futures on expected volatility, not the earnings of any business.

How to act on this

If you want to trade these four tickers, the cheapest path for the next two weeks is a resting limit order on Binance Spot, where the maker fee is zero until 31 October. If you do not have an account yet, you can sign up on Binance through our exchange page with referral code 11350287, which also gives you a rebate on regular trading fees once the promotion ends. For a wider list of tokenized stocks across exchanges, including NVDA, TSLA and CRCL, see the tokenized stocks hub and the Circle (CRCL) page.

What we could not verify

  • The exact collateral ratio Binance applies to each of the four tokens; it is shown on the Margin Data page, which we could not read without logging in.
  • Whether Binance will enable borrowing for these tokens, and when.
  • Which countries see the pairs; Binance only says "eligible users in permitted jurisdictions".
