Bitcoin falls below 77,000 USDT: check the price behind your position
The short answer
Bitcoin fell below 77,000 USDT on OKX, with Odaily reporting a price of 76,993.6 USDT and a 24-hour decline of 1.38% at 01:41 Singapore Time (SGT) on 3 November. A later OKX spot-market snapshot at 04:53:58 SGT showed 76,929.6 USDT, about 1.27% below its rolling 24-hour opening reference. For a trader with an open position, the useful next check is which price controls that position: a spot last trade and a derivatives liquidation trigger answer different questions. Odaily's Bitcoin report.
Odaily and the later OKX quote establish the price crossing without identifying a single cause. Before changing an order, identify its market, check the price reference used by the product and compare the size of the position with the move already observed.

What the two observations actually show
Odaily's report attributes the earlier quote to OKX market data. Its 76,993.6 USDT price and 1.38% decline belong to that report's observation. The later snapshot comes directly from OKX's public BTC-USDT spot ticker. It records a last price of 76,929.6 USDT, a rolling opening reference of 77,923.1 USDT, a 24-hour high of 78,866.5 USDT and a low of 76,700 USDT.
Those figures give a calculation the reader can reproduce: (76,929.6 ÷ 77,923.1 − 1) × 100 = approximately −1.27%. The percentage uses the same response's opening reference. It should not be substituted into the earlier news report as though both measurements were taken together. The later last price was 64 USDT below the earlier reported quote. That is an arithmetic difference between two observations, not a continuous account of the intervening market. These sources do not show the path of every trade between them, how much buying met selling at each level or which participants caused the crossing.
The 77,000 USDT threshold makes the move easy to describe. It does not provide an order instruction. A reader who already holds spot Bitcoin has a different decision from someone whose open derivative depends on a separate mark price. Start by identifying which of those questions applies to the account you are reviewing.
A last trade cannot answer every position question
The OKX snapshot used here identifies its instrument type as spot and its instrument as BTC-USDT. It is evidence about that market. It is not a snapshot of an account's derivative, its collateral or its liquidation calculation. Copying 76,929.6 into every position calculation would erase the product distinction before the analysis even starts.
Bybit's official explanation supplies a concrete example of why the distinction matters. For its perpetual contracts, Bybit says it uses mark price to trigger liquidation and to measure unrealized profit and loss. It says a position is liquidated when mark price reaches the position's liquidation price. Its document also explains that last traded price can temporarily diverge from mark price in a fluctuating market. Bybit's mark-price explanation.
That is a documented Bybit mechanism. It does not establish the settings or calculation for every other exchange, contract or account. If you hold a derivative elsewhere, open that product's current explanation and the actual position record. Write down the price label shown beside the position instead of assuming the large number on a market chart is the relevant trigger.
Bybit describes its standard perpetual mark price as the median of three inputs: an index-based price adjusted for funding, an index-based price adjusted by a moving average of the basis, and last traded price. Its document also identifies exceptional conditions in which it uses last traded price when index data are abnormal or insufficient. This explains why checking the actual displayed mark price is more useful than trying to reconstruct it from one spot quote. A single OKX ticker supplies neither those Bybit inputs nor the exception state.

For a Bybit perpetual, compare the displayed mark price with the displayed liquidation price. Keep the last traded price alongside them if you are reviewing an execution. That comparison follows the official mechanism and avoids treating a headline about OKX spot trading as an account-specific liquidation notice. Put the move next to the quantity you hold
A quoted percentage becomes more useful when applied to a stated quantity. Consider a hypothetical position representing 0.1 BTC. Using only the two prices from the later OKX snapshot, its value at the rolling opening reference would be 0.1 × 77,923.1 = 7,792.31 USDT. At the snapshot's last price, the same quantity would be 0.1 × 76,929.6 = 7,692.96 USDT.
The difference is 99.35 USDT. This is a worked comparison of quantity multiplied by price. It is not a return attributed to a real trader, an executed sale or a complete derivatives profit-and-loss statement. A reader can replace 0.1 with the quantity in their own record while retaining the same two sourced prices to understand the scale of the observed move.
The 64 USDT difference between the earlier reported quote and the later last price would correspond to 6.4 USDT for that same hypothetical 0.1 BTC quantity. These are different comparisons. The 99.35 USDT calculation uses the rolling opening reference; the 6.4 USDT calculation uses the news report's earlier quote. Label the reference so a small change of time window does not silently change the question.
For an actual position, use its recorded entry and product specification when reviewing the account. The public spot snapshot cannot supply the reader's entry price, position direction, fees or contractual exposure. Keeping those fields separate is a practical way to avoid mistaking a market percentage for the account's own result.
Review an existing order before changing it
Open the original order record and identify the exact instrument. Write its name beside the account section in which it sits. A BTC-USDT spot quote and a Bitcoin perpetual may both show Bitcoin prices while representing different records. The first task is to avoid changing the wrong order because its name resembles the one discussed in the news.
Then compare the order's stated quantity with the exposure you intended to keep. The hypothetical 0.1 BTC calculation above is a useful arithmetic check, but your record supplies the actual amount. If you decide to revise an order, check the revised quantity and price together before submitting the change. A familiar headline threshold should not replace either field.
For an open Bybit perpetual, review the mark-price field and liquidation-price field together, using the mechanism described in its help document. If the chart is showing last traded price, record that label too. The question is whether you are comparing the trigger price with the correct reference, rather than comparing two numbers that happen to appear on the same screen.
Use the original record for this order check:
- Open the order and record its complete instrument name, account section and quantity. Compare that quantity with the exposure you intended to keep.
- For a Bybit perpetual position, read the displayed mark price beside the displayed liquidation price. Keep the last-traded-price label separate if you are checking an execution.
- Before submitting an order revision, read the new quantity and price together. Retain the revised details alongside the original record, with the time of the check.
Why the 24-hour high and low need their own labels
The later OKX response shows a 24-hour high of 78,866.5 USDT and a low of 76,700 USDT. Their difference is 2,166.5 USDT. The last price, 76,929.6 USDT, was 229.6 USDT above that reported low at the snapshot time. Each calculation describes that response's observed window.
Neither calculation establishes what happens after 04:53:58 SGT. The high-low range does not identify the order of those extremes, and the distance above the low does not confirm a rebound has continued. The supplied ticker is a snapshot, not a full trade history or evidence for a directional forecast.
Use the range to put the quoted last price in context, then return to the order record. For someone reviewing an existing position, a useful note contains the observation time, instrument, reference price and quantity. A screenshot showing only a large Bitcoin price loses the fields needed to reproduce the comparison later.
Quick answers
Did Bitcoin trade below 77,000 USDT?
Yes. Odaily reported 76,993.6 USDT on OKX at 01:41 SGT on 3 November. The later official OKX BTC-USDT spot snapshot showed 76,929.6 USDT at 04:53:58 SGT. These are separately timed observations of the same spot market.
Why is one decline 1.38% and the other about 1.27%?
The first percentage belongs to Odaily's earlier report. The second is our arithmetic using the later API response's last price and rolling 24-hour opening reference. Keep the observation time and reference beside each number rather than combining them into a single measurement.
Does crossing 77,000 USDT mean my derivative was liquidated?
The spot quote cannot answer that account question. Bybit's perpetual-contract documentation says its liquidation trigger uses mark price reaching the position's liquidation price. Check the specific position and its documented mechanism. The headline supplies neither your liquidation price nor your account's trigger record.
What should an existing holder check first?
Identify the exact instrument and quantity in the original account record. For a derivative, add the relevant price reference and liquidation information. Compare those fields with the timestamped observation before deciding whether any order change fits the exposure you intend to hold.
