How to sell crypto on OKX P2P: confirm payment before releasing coins

6 min

The short answer

To sell crypto on OKX P2P, open the Sell side, choose an available currency and receiving method, review an offer, and place the order. Release the crypto only after checking the actual incoming payment in your own bank or payment account; a buyer marking the order paid does not establish that you received money.

This guide addresses the seller's decision between opening an order and releasing coins. If you want to acquire crypto instead, start with our OKX purchase guide; the direction of the payment and the person who confirms receipt are different.

Start with the receiving account

OKX's seller FAQ requires a verified account, linked email and phone, and an added receiving method. For an ordinary user, that method must belong to the verified account holder. Prepare this before comparing advertisements, because a competitive price is useless if you cannot correctly receive the payment specified by the order.

Open your bank or payment app directly and establish which account you will check. Keep the order currency and receiving details consistent with that account. The available currencies depend on your region and the options displayed to your account; a help article listing a payment brand does not establish that you can use it. Our OKX profile provides the platform overview before you investigate the route shown inside your account.

There are separate questions here: whether your account can sell, whether you have available crypto, and whether the receiving method can accept this payment. Solving one does not solve the others. Do not substitute another person's account merely because your preferred method is missing.

Express or a chosen advertisement?

The official selling guide describes both Express and the P2P marketplace. Express starts from the crypto amount and receiving method. The marketplace lets you filter advertisements before selecting the relevant Sell offer. Neither route removes the need to verify the incoming money yourself.

Article table: scroll horizontally, or focus the table area and use the arrow keys.

DecisionWhat to inspectWhat it does not establish
ExpressAmount, crypto, receiving method and previewThat a bank transfer has arrived
Selected advertisementFiat currency, method, order range and offer detailsThat the buyer's screenshot is authentic
Order confirmationCrypto quantity and expected cash proceedsThat every displayed feature is available elsewhere
ReleaseActual credited payment matching the orderThat a future dispute will recover coins

Read the order preview as a cash-out instruction, rather than a market-price headline. Distinguish the amount of crypto leaving your account from the amount of local currency you expect to receive. If you cannot explain both sides of that exchange before confirming, stop and review the offer.

The sell flow, without skipping the checkpoint

1. Open P2P trading and choose Sell. Select the asset and the fiat currency that your account supports. 2. Choose Express or inspect a marketplace offer using the receiving-method and amount filters. 3. Enter the crypto quantity or expected fiat amount. Check the receiving details and the complete order preview. 4. Complete the authentication requested by OKX and open the order. Follow that screen rather than assuming a remembered security prompt will apply. 5. Wait for the buyer's payment. Use the chat attached to this order for questions about its progress. 6. Open your receiving account independently and match the incoming transaction against the order. 7. Once the payment is received and the details agree, use the release action and complete its verification.

Keep the transaction you are checking tied to the same order. A notification about an unrelated incoming payment can look reassuring while proving nothing about this buyer. Similarly, an earlier successful trade with somebody is not evidence that this trade has been paid.

What counts as payment evidence?

Your own receiving-account record is the essential checkpoint. The seller FAQ tells users to check both receipt and the payer's name. A status label inside OKX records what the buyer has reported; a screenshot records what somebody has chosen to show you. Neither is a substitute for looking at the account where the money should arrive.

The distinction becomes useful when messages disagree. For example, suppose a buyer says the transfer is complete while your payment app shows no matching credit. That is a hypothetical unresolved-payment case, not permission to release first and investigate later. Ask about the payment through the order and use the dispute route when the issue remains unresolved.

If the amount or sender identity does not agree with the order, preserve those facts and seek support through the order. Do not improvise a side arrangement that makes it harder to explain which payment belongs to which trade. Avoid treating a partial or pending payment as a completed payment for the full crypto quantity.

Buyer selected paid, but nothing arrived

Keep the coins unreleased while checking the receiving account. The official dispute guide specifically covers a buyer marking payment complete when the seller has not received it. Open the relevant order, use its help option, identify the issue, and follow the displayed process for a dispute.

Make your explanation concrete: identify the order, state that the buyer marked it paid, describe what the receiving account shows, and attach relevant evidence requested by support. Supply it through the official case, rather than sending account records to a person who contacts you elsewhere.

Then monitor that order's dispute details. The guide allows additional evidence and update requests when a case remains unresolved. A submitted case is a request for review, not a finding that either side is correct. Resolution depends on the evidence and responses; this guide does not assign a guaranteed completion time.

If you already released the coins

This is a different branch. OKX's accidental-release article directs users to the completed order, its chat or dispute function, and customer support. Include evidence showing the missing payment and report the issue promptly.

Record the sequence accurately: order opened, buyer claimed payment, crypto released, and payment missing when checked. Describing this as an unreleased order would hide the event support needs to investigate. A dispute can still be raised, but the existence of that route does not promise that the crypto or money will be recovered.

Cost, unavailable balances and the next trade

OKX's seller FAQ states that the platform does not charge a P2P trading fee, while the bank or payment service may charge for the transfer. The advertisement's conversion price also matters. Compare the expected cash proceeds for the crypto quantity before confirming; a zero platform fee is not a promise of zero total cost.

If crypto is unavailable to sell, distinguish an internal balance transfer from a restriction. The seller FAQ describes moving assets to the funding account or using the transfer option on the order page. Moving balances does not establish that a security review or another restriction has ended. Follow the reason shown to your account and ask official support when it is unclear.

For a future eligible account opening, NexuAlpha's public partner feed lists OKX referral code nexu888. The OKX profile collects that information; it does not change an existing order's payment checks or dispute decision.

Quick answers

Does Buyer has paid mean I can release?

Only after you independently confirm the matching payment in the receiving account. The buyer's action alone is insufficient.

Can a screenshot or SMS replace the bank check?

No. OKX's accidental-release guidance specifically warns against relying on buyer screenshots or text notifications to establish receipt.

Should I sell through another person's receiving account?

The ordinary-user rule requires your own verified receiving method. A missing payment option is a reason to review availability, not to borrow somebody else's identity.

What could we not verify?

We checked public OKX instructions on October 17, 2026, without opening an authenticated P2P order. Your available currencies, live advertisements, bank charges, security restrictions and any individual dispute outcome remain account-specific and unverified here.
