OKX vs Bybit in October 2026: Fees, Stock Products, Verification and Which One Fits You
The short answer
At the entry tier the two exchanges are almost level: OKX lists 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker for spot, Bybit lists 0.10% for both, and on USDT perpetuals both charge 0.02% maker while OKX takes 0.05% and Bybit 0.055% from takers. The real differences are elsewhere. Bybit publishes a full VIP fee ladder and a separate 0.20% tier for its xStocks and Adventure Zone spot markets, and it pays new users through three referral trade tasks worth up to 500 USDT combined. OKX leans on its stock perpetuals, its tokenized-stock spot pairs and an account-protection programme. Pick OKX if you want the lowest base spot fee and the widest stock-linked menu; pick Bybit if you trade perpetuals often and want the task rewards. Either way, the sign-up code is entered once, at registration, and cannot be added afterwards.

Fees side by side
Fees are the first thing readers compare, so here are the published base rates. Bybit's figures come from its Trading Fee Structure article (last updated 2 September 2026, re-read on 21 October 2026). OKX's figures come from the OKX fee page as checked in the NexuAlpha fee dataset on 10 October 2026 and listed on the OKX profile.
Article table: scroll horizontally, or focus the table area and use the arrow keys.
| Product, regular user | OKX maker / taker | Bybit maker / taker |
|---|---|---|
| Spot, crypto pairs | 0.08% / 0.10% | 0.10% / 0.10% |
| USDT perpetuals | 0.02% / 0.05% | 0.02% / 0.055% |
| Spot xStocks and Adventure Zone | see OKX stock pages | 0.20% / 0.20% |
Two details change the picture. First, Bybit's article says the actual rate may vary by region and tells you to read the My Fee Rate page after identity verification, so the table is a starting point, not a quote. Second, Bybit's VIP ladder is public: at VIP 1 spot drops to 0.0675% maker and 0.08% taker, and at VIP 5 to 0.04% and 0.05%. For a trader doing a few hundred dollars a month, the 0.02 percentage-point spot gap between OKX and Bybit is about 20 cents on every thousand dollars of maker volume. It matters more for perpetual traders, where the taker gap of 0.005 points is small but repeats on every entry and exit. If you want the full matrix, the live OKX vs Bybit comparison and the rates board show the numbers side by side.
Stocks and tokenized assets
Check regional eligibility and account terms
Open →2026 traffic is tokenized stocks, and the two venues approach them differently. OKX listed USDT-margined perpetuals on McDonald's, JPMorgan, Visa and Goldman Sachs on 16 October with up to 20x leverage, trading around the clock, and added a spot pair for the tokenized Netflix share (xNFLX/USDC) on 20 October. OKX describes the spot product as tokenized exposure with no direct ownership or shareholder rights. Bybit's fee article puts xStocks in the same special zone as its Adventure Zone spot markets, charging 0.20% maker and taker at VIP 0, which is double its normal spot rate. That is the price of the extra product: a tokenized share on either exchange costs more to trade than a plain coin pair, so size your order after you read the fee line, not before. The tokenized stocks hub lists which venue carries which ticker, with the dates the data was checked.
Verification and first-day steps
Both exchanges require identity verification before you can do anything useful. On OKX, the official registration guide says that until verification is complete you cannot buy or sell, deposit or withdraw, borrow or transfer, and that each phone number and email supports one account. Bybit's guide asks you to choose your country of residence, enter an email or phone number, type the referral code before pressing Sign Up Now, pass the captcha, set a password and then verify from the dashboard. Bybit's verification has three levels (Standard, Advanced and Pro), and Standard is enough to deposit and trade; a retry after a failed photo is allowed after 30 minutes. Bybit also lists a proof of address dated within the last three months among its documents. In both cases the practical advice is the same: use your real name exactly as it appears on the document, photograph the document in daylight, and finish verification before you plan any deposit, because a transfer you cannot trade or return is the usual first-week frustration.
What new users get
Bybit's referral programme is the clearest incentive on paper. For people who registered on or after 10 October 2026 at 12:00 UTC, the official FAQ lists a first trade of at least 50 USD within 14 days for 50 USDT, 500 USD of volume within 30 days of that trade for 100 USDT, and 10,000 USD of volume for another 100 USDT, up to 500 USDT combined between both sides. The programme is for Bybit Global users and region-specific programmes may differ. OKX does not publish a matching three-step ladder in the pages we read; its referral promotions depend on campaign rules in force on the day, so check the campaign page before you rely on any figure. If you value a published ladder with dollar thresholds, Bybit is easier to plan around. If you value a lower spot fee and the stock-linked menu, OKX is the simpler fit.
Which one fits which trader
A spot-only beginner who buys a few coins a month will save a little on OKX through the 0.08% maker rate and gets the stock perpetuals and tokenized-stock spot pairs on one app. A perpetual trader who opens and closes positions daily should compare the real fee after the VIP tier, because Bybit's published ladder lets you see exactly when each discount starts. Someone who wants US-stock exposure should decide first whether they want a perpetual (a contract that tracks the price, settled in USDT, with funding payments) or a spot token, because the two behave differently: perpetuals can be sold short and levered, tokens cannot, and neither gives you a share certificate. Anyone using a partner sign-up code should register through the code first. NexuAlpha's partner code for OKX is nexu888 and for Bybit it is 48553; enter it in the referral field before you submit the form, because neither exchange lets you add it later.
Quick answers
Which exchange has the lower spot fee? OKX, at 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker for a regular user against Bybit's 0.10% on both sides at VIP 0.
Is Bybit cheaper for perpetuals? No. The maker fee is the same 0.02%, and Bybit's taker fee of 0.055% is slightly higher than OKX's 0.05% at the entry tier.
Do both require identity verification? Yes. OKX blocks trading and transfers until it is complete, and Bybit asks for Standard verification before you can deposit and trade.
Can I add a referral code after signing up? Bybit states that the code cannot be added, changed or deleted after the account is created, so enter it during registration on either exchange.
Where do I read the live numbers? On the OKX vs Bybit comparison, which refreshes the fee table and links each exchange profile, including Bybit.
