OKX Fees Explained: Spot and Futures Maker and Taker Rates (October 2026)
The short answer
For a regular user on standard spot pairs, OKX charges 0.08% as a maker fee and 0.10% as a taker fee. On USDT-margined perpetual futures the published schedule is 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker. These are the figures in the fee record we checked on 10 October 2026. A maker order adds liquidity to the order book and a taker order removes it, so the gap between the two rates is the simplest way to lower what you pay. Check your own fee tier before a large trade, because volume tiers and token discounts can change the numbers.

The OKX fee page loaded on 22 October 2026, but it draws its figures in the browser. We therefore kept the numbers from our 10 October read rather than a fresh copy, and we list the live check as an open item at the end of this article.
What the rates cost in practice
Fees are easier to judge in dollars. Take a $1,000 spot purchase. As a taker you pay $1.00 at 0.10%. As a maker you pay $0.80 at 0.08%. The difference is $0.20 on every $1,000 you trade.
Perpetual futures work the same way, at a lower rate. A $10,000 position opened as a taker costs $5.00 at 0.05%. The same position opened as a maker costs $2.00 at 0.02%. If you open and close that position as a taker on both sides, the fee total is $10.00 before funding payments and slippage. Those numbers are our arithmetic from the sourced rates, not a forecast of what your account will pay.
Fees are not the whole cost. On thin pairs the spread and slippage can cost more than the fee, and perpetual futures add funding payments every few hours while a position is open. Withdrawals carry a separate network fee that depends on the chain you choose, so read the withdrawal page for that coin before you move funds.
Why maker and taker matter
Check regional eligibility and account terms
Open →Check regional eligibility and account terms
Open →A maker order sits on the book and waits to be matched. A taker order crosses the spread and fills at once. Patient traders who place limit orders usually pay the lower maker rate, while traders who need an instant exit pay the taker rate. The choice is therefore not only about the fee schedule but about timing. A stop-loss that fills as a taker costs more than a limit order that rests on the book, but it also protects you when the market moves fast.
Many beginners never see this difference because their platform defaults to market orders. Read the order type before you confirm. A market order is always a taker order, and the higher rate applies even if you only meant to buy a little.
How OKX compares with Binance on the same schedule
Binance's regular spot schedule, read on 10 October 2026, is 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker. Its regular USDT-margined perpetual schedule is 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker. On standard spot pairs, OKX's maker rate is 0.02 percentage points lower and the taker rates match. On perpetual futures the two schedules match for regular users. The practical difference between the two venues on spot therefore comes from maker orders, not from the taker rate. Our Binance vs OKX comparison covers the wider picture, including listings and product range.
Steps to keep your trading costs down
- Open your fee tier in the account settings before you trade. Your personal rate can differ from the regular-user figure in this article.
- Use limit orders whenever you can wait. A limit order that rests on the book can settle as a maker.
- Compare the taker cost of a market order against the price you would pay with a limit order before a fast exit.
- Look at the funding rate before you hold a perpetual position across several funding windows.
- Read the withdrawal fee for the specific network, not the headline figure on the exchange page.
- Keep a simple log of fees paid each month, so you know whether the rate or the trading frequency is the real cost.
How to act on this
If you are opening an account, read our OKX profile first. Then sign up through our link and enter the code NEXU888 during registration. The code does not change the published fees described here, so the numbers above apply whether or not you use it. If you already hold an OKX account, compare the maker and taker costs on the pairs you trade most often and move the patient orders to limit orders.
Quick answers
Is the OKX spot fee 0.1%? For a regular user on standard pairs, the taker rate is 0.10% and the maker rate is 0.08%, according to our 10 October 2026 read.
Are perpetual futures cheaper than spot? On the published schedule the perpetual taker rate is 0.05%, which is half the spot taker rate of 0.10%. Funding payments are a separate cost.
Do fees change with volume? Yes. Exchange fee schedules normally set tiers by trading volume and token holdings. This article shows only the regular-user tier.
Does OKX charge a deposit fee? We did not verify a deposit fee in this review. Check the deposit page for the coin and network you plan to use.
Where do I see my exact rate? The fee section of your account shows the tier that applies to you. We did not capture the on-screen steps in this review, so confirm the path in your own app.
What we could not verify
- The current VIP tier tables and any token-based discount terms. The fee page did not render its tier table in our 22 October check.
- Withdrawal fees for each network and each coin.
- A fresh Binance fee read. The Binance fee page returned no content on 22 October, so the Binance figures come from the 10 October record.
