Bitget Lists Citigroup, Medtronic, BP and Valero Stock Perps: 20x, USDT-Settled, 24/7 — What You Actually Trade and What to Check First

6 min

The short answer

Yes: Bitget has listed a Citigroup stock perp. On 19 October 2026 (UTC+8) it opened four USDT-settled stock perpetual contracts, CSTOCKUSDT for Citigroup, MDTUSDT for Medtronic, BPUSDT for BP and VLOUSDT for Valero Energy, each with maximum leverage of 20x and trading around the clock. You do not buy any shares: you hold a contract that follows an index price, and the contract keeps trading when the US stock market is closed, which is where most of the risk sits.

What Bitget announced

The support article, titled "Bitget listed CSTOCKUSDT, MDTUSDT, BPUSDT and VLOUSDT hot stock perps", went up on 19 October 2026 at 13:44 SGT (UTC+8). It states that the four contracts were listed on that day. A "stock perp" is a perpetual futures contract, meaning a contract with no expiry date, that is tied to the price of a listed company's stock.

The specifications are identical for all four:

Bitget adds that it may adjust leverage and margin ratio based on market conditions, so 20x is a ceiling for today rather than a promise.

The four companies in plain terms

Bitget describes each underlying company in a sentence or two, and the descriptions show what each contract is sensitive to.

  • Citigroup (CSTOCK): a US multinational bank holding company headquartered in New York, active in retail, corporate, investment banking and wealth management. Bitget says its performance is affected by macro conditions, interest rates and capital-market activity.
  • Medtronic (MDT): a global medical technology company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, with business in cardiovascular, neuroscience, diabetes management and surgical instruments. Bitget links it to global healthcare spending and product innovation cycles.
  • BP (BP): an integrated energy company headquartered in London, covering oil and gas exploration and production, refining and marketing, and renewables and low-carbon activity. Bitget ties it to international oil prices and energy cycles.
  • Valero Energy (VLO): headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, and described as one of the world's largest independent refiners. Bitget ties it to crude prices and refining margins.

The practical reading: two of the four names, BP and Valero, are energy companies that depend on oil prices, so they may move together on the same news. Citigroup is the interest-rate and capital-markets name, and Medtronic is the healthcare one. Four tickers do not mean four independent bets if you open both energy contracts at once.

What you actually trade

Bitget is direct about the product. In its words, the product is not a security and does not represent actual ownership of the underlying stocks, related stock tokens or indices. It does not entitle you to dividends, interest, voting rights, shareholder rights or rights offerings, including share splits, spin-offs or subscription rights. Bitget is neither the issuer nor the distributor of the underlying stocks.

In plain language, a perp tracks an index price and settles in USDT. You put up USDT as margin, which is the deposit that backs your position, and your profit or loss follows the contract price. At the end you receive USDT, not a share certificate and not a dividend. If you want a token that is backed one-to-one by a real share, that is a different product type; our article on Bitget rTokens explains it, and our note on how dividends are handled on stock perps versus backed tokens covers the payout side.

The risk that matters most: 24/7 contract, market-hours stock

The underlying shares of Citigroup, Medtronic, BP and Valero trade only during US market hours. The Bitget contract trades 24 hours a day, seven days a week. That mismatch has one consequence: the contract can move on news while the stock is closed, and when the US market opens the stock may open well away from where the contract was last trading. Price gaps at the US open are the main risk for these four contracts.

Leverage multiplies that risk. By our arithmetic, at 20x a 5% adverse move in the underlying wipes out your margin, because 100% divided by 20 is 5%. A bank or an oil refiner moving 5% on rate news, an earnings surprise or a crude-price swing is not unusual enough to ignore. At 5x, the same move costs you a quarter of the margin instead of all of it.

What it costs to trade

According to the partner feed on Bitget that we maintain, USDT-margined perpetual fees are 0.02% for makers and 0.06% for takers; spot fees are 0.1% each way. A maker order rests in the order book and adds liquidity; a taker order matches an order already there and removes liquidity. On a 10,000 USDT position, a taker order costs 6 USDT per side, so opening and closing with market orders is about 12 USDT before any funding.

Funding is the periodic payment that keeps a perpetual contract near its index. For these contracts it settles once every eight hours. Bitget is not on our funding rates board, which covers Binance and OKX, so you must read the funding countdown and the current rate on the Bitget contract page itself.

How to act on this

Start with low leverage, far below 20x, while you learn how each contract behaves. Check the funding countdown every eight hours, because a position held across several settlements pays or receives funding each time. Remember US stock market hours: the contract trades when the stock does not, so size positions as if a gap at the US open could happen. To trade these contracts, open them on Bitget; signing up to Bitget with code nexu888 puts a fee rebate on your trading. Current offers from exchanges are collected on our activities page.

Where this fits in the wider rollout

The same Bitget page lists other recent additions, by title only: TWTSMUSDT for TSMC plus seven Taiwan stock perps on 19 October, FASTRETAILINGUSDT, the JIO Pre-IPO perps, and groups such as MURATA, TAIYOYUDEN, TOYOTA, JPMUFG and JPSONY, ZCSH and SNPS, KIA, LGENERGY, SSBIOLOGICS, KBFG and KAKAO, CEG, SBUX, LEN and HD, and TWST, CVNA, RUM, CRML, BWET, ACNSTOCK, KOD and AKAM. Our earlier article on the Taiwan stock perps covers the TSMC batch. For how these contracts compare with backed tokens and other venues, see our tokenized stocks hub.
