Coinbase Lists RLUSD on 3 Platforms With 1:1 Conversion
The short answer
Ripple says RLUSD is launching on Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange and the Coinbase Retail app, with 1:1 conversion from U.S. dollars and other supported dollar-denominated stablecoins into RLUSD. Its October 28 announcement also names XRP Ledger, Base and Ethereum for deposits and withdrawals. For a holder preparing to move funds, the immediate check is the exact network and conversion quote shown in the account; availability on Coinbase Global Exchange, including use as collateral, is a later phase. Ripple's announcement.
The first reports appeared at about 20:07 SGT on October 28. PANews reported same-day trading and management access for retail and institutional clients through the three named Coinbase platforms. Odaily described the conversion arrangement and the planned collateral function. These reports describe an expansion of access; they do not supply account-specific limits or an executable quote. Three Coinbase entry points, with a separate collateral phase
The platform names deserve close reading. Ripple lists Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange and the retail app as the places where clients can trade and manage RLUSD starting on the announcement date. It then puts Coinbase Global Exchange availability in a separate sentence and says that support, including RLUSD collateral, will follow. The launch description therefore has a present phase and a future phase. The official rollout description.
That distinction matters if you are looking at RLUSD as a balance to hold against a trading position. A listing headline is insufficient evidence that the asset already contributes to available margin. Before changing collateral, look for an explicit RLUSD entry in the account's eligible-collateral screen and read the applicable parameters. Treat that as a check to perform, rather than a claim that the feature is already there.
For a retail reader, start with the retail app named in the release. If you use a different Coinbase product, identify that product before applying the announcement to it. Do not infer that identical branding means identical access, trading pairs or account permissions. Ripple's release names the launch surfaces but does not publish a region-by-region eligibility table. Ripple's platform list.
The reporting also needs a geographical boundary. Odaily and ChainCatcher describe the partnership as expanding RLUSD access in the U.S. market. Neither short report provides a list of additional jurisdictions where a particular user can act. Readers outside that market should check the asset screen in their own account before treating a U.S. access announcement as a local launch. ChainCatcher's report.
What the announced 1:1 conversion covers
The official wording describes conversion from U.S. dollars and other supported U.S.-dollar-denominated stablecoins into RLUSD at 1:1. The word “supported” limits the statement: it does not name every stablecoin as eligible. The direction is also specific. The release gives an incoming conversion description, rather than a complete schedule for every possible redemption, withdrawal or trading route. Ripple's conversion terms.
An exchange user can use that wording to frame a concrete comparison. Open the conversion preview for the balance you actually hold. Confirm the input asset, the RLUSD amount and any displayed charge before approving it. If the input asset is absent, the announcement does not establish an alternative route for that account. There is no reason to substitute a different ticker merely because both assets are described as dollar-denominated.
The 1:1 figure is a conversion relationship stated in the launch announcement. It does not provide a live RLUSD market price or a spread measurement. Nor does it establish that every operation involving RLUSD has zero cost. For a transfer decision, separate the amount in the conversion preview from the amount expected to arrive at the destination. Read the actual screens for the proposed route rather than filling an unquoted fee with zero.
If you already have an open RLUSD order, compare its trading pair and order price with the conversion facility described in the release. The announcement names trading access and conversion, but it does not publish an order book, a list of trading pairs or execution figures. A trading order and a conversion request should each be assessed on the terms displayed for that particular action. Odaily's account of the arrangement.
XRP Ledger, Base and Ethereum are named for transfers
Ripple's release states that deposit and withdrawal support spans XRP Ledger, abbreviated XRPL, Base and Ethereum. It also says Ripple will provide liquidity on Base to support RLUSD's growth there. The liquidity commitment is a company statement about its planned support; it does not give a transaction size, an order-book depth measurement or a user yield. Ripple's network and liquidity statement.
For someone transferring RLUSD, the named networks make the destination check more specific. Identify whether the receiving screen says XRPL, Base or Ethereum. Then compare that label with the network selected at the sending end. If the two screens disagree, stop before confirmation and resolve the mismatch. This is a suggested transfer check; it does not assert that every network is available to every account at the moment you read the article.
Keep the asset and the network as separate fields in your transfer record. Write down RLUSD as the asset, then the network actually selected, the destination and the expected received amount. A screenshot of a listing headline cannot replace the deposit instructions for the destination. If an address field includes an additional identifier, follow the instructions shown for that exact receiving route rather than borrowing instructions from another network.
For comparisons with other markets, our rates board and funding rates board are separate tools. They are useful places to begin a broader market review. They should not be read as confirmation of this RLUSD conversion quote, a Coinbase transfer limit or planned collateral eligibility. Those details belong to the relevant account and product screens.
Ripple reports more than $2.4 billion in market value
Ripple says RLUSD launched in December 2024 and has since exceeded $2.4 billion in market capitalization. That figure is the issuer's statement in the October 28 release. The announcement does not include a historical series or a calculation timestamp for the valuation, so the number should remain attributed to Ripple rather than presented as a market-data reading taken by this desk. The issuer's scale claim.
The figure provides context for the distribution news. The event reported today is the addition of named Coinbase access points, alongside conversion and network support. The release does not quantify how much new RLUSD demand Coinbase has generated, how much money moved immediately after launch or whether holders changed other stablecoin balances. A larger distribution footprint and a measured flow of new money are different observations.
Ripple also describes RLUSD as redeemable for U.S. dollars and says reserves include dollar deposits, short-term U.S. Treasuries and other cash equivalents. This is the issuer's reserve description in the release. It does not supply an account-specific redemption process, a minimum redemption amount or a settlement timetable for a Coinbase customer. Ripple's description of the asset.
A retail decision can stay narrower than those issuer-level statements. If you want a dollar-denominated balance for a specific transfer, compare the available route, quoted conversion and destination support. If you want collateral, wait for the product's explicit eligibility terms. The same announcement can inform both readers without supporting the same immediate action for each.
What this means for you on Coinbase
- Start by finding the asset under its full ticker, RLUSD, in the Coinbase surface you use. Read whether the screen offers a balance view, conversion, trading or transfers. Record the function you actually need. The official release's broad phrase “trade and manage” is useful launch information, but the screen is where you establish which operation your account can presently perform.
- Next, preview the transaction without submitting it. For conversion, inspect the input asset and output amount. For a withdrawal, compare the destination network and the expected received amount with the receiving instructions. Keep any displayed fee in the record. The launch announcement does not publish a fee schedule.
Finally, if the plan involves a leveraged position, separate the spot balance decision from the collateral decision. Ripple says Coinbase Global Exchange availability and collateral use will follow. Look for a later product notice that names the effective date and applicable collateral terms before changing a position on the assumption that RLUSD is already eligible. The future-phase wording.
Questions the launch announcement answers
Which Coinbase products does the release name?
Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange and the Coinbase Retail app are named for the launch. Coinbase Global Exchange appears separately as a later availability phase that includes collateral use. Ripple's product list.
Does 1:1 conversion cover every dollar stablecoin?
The release says other “supported” dollar-denominated stablecoins. It does not provide the complete eligible-asset list in the announcement. Check the input options offered in the conversion preview rather than assuming a particular stablecoin is included. The stated conversion scope.
Is RLUSD collateral already live on Coinbase Global Exchange?
The source says that availability, including collateral, will follow. The opened reports do not establish a live launch date or current collateral parameters. Keep that future feature separate from the three-platform access announced on October 28. Odaily's report on the planned function.
