How to Withdraw Money from Kraken to a Bank Account

7 min

The short answer

To withdraw money from Kraken to your bank, open Transfer, choose Withdraw, select the cash currency and an available bank withdrawal method, then add or select your own bank account and review the request. The bank account holder must match the verified name or entity on Kraken; the methods, fees, limits and estimated arrival time depend on the currency, provider and account.

This guide follows Kraken’s standard website instructions, checked on October 17, 2026. Kraken Pro has a separate withdrawal guide, so identify the interface you are using before following menu labels. Start with the Kraken profile if you need the platform overview, then return to your account’s funding screen for the actual options.

Start with the currency and the destination

A bank withdrawal moves a supported cash currency to a bank account. It is a different task from sending cryptocurrency to a blockchain address. An IBAN or routing number belongs in a bank form; it cannot replace the destination address in a crypto transfer. If the balance you intend to withdraw is cryptocurrency, identify how you will obtain the required cash currency before submitting the bank request. Do not assume a cash withdrawal order automatically sells every asset in your portfolio.

Write down the receiving account’s currency and legal holder name. Then look for that currency under Kraken’s Withdraw screen. The public options table is a useful starting point, but Kraken explicitly says the logged-in funding page has the most current information. A method listed for a country or payment region is not evidence that every account in that area has that provider enabled.

The destination must also meet the chosen provider’s requirements. An account you control with a matching legal name is the basic check; a familiar banking app or a saved beneficiary label does not establish compatibility by itself. Kraken warns against withdrawing to third-party payment processors, so do not substitute a merchant payment address simply because it accepts the same currency.

Submit the withdrawal on the standard Kraken website

1. Sign in through your usual verified Kraken route. Open Transfer on the left, then Withdraw. 2. In Asset, select the currency you want to receive. Use the search field if the displayed currency is different. 3. Open Method and choose a cash withdrawal option actually offered to your account. Read the provider details before proceeding. 4. Choose Continue to add a bank account if no suitable destination is saved. Enter the requested bank details and select Add bank account. 5. Select that bank account from the destination dropdown and enter the withdrawal amount. Kraken’s guide says to omit punctuation and currency symbols in the amount field. 6. Select Review Withdrawal. Check the destination, currency, amount and displayed charges, then confirm with Withdraw when the details match your intended payment.

Adding a bank account and confirming a withdrawal are separate steps. After saving the destination, verify it is the account actually selected in the order. A nickname that resembles another account is not enough: compare the identifying bank details too. This final comparison is an editorial checklist to catch selection mistakes, not an extra Kraken eligibility rule.

What the bank form is asking for

Kraken’s bank-information FAQ explains that providers need different fields. Use the requirements for the method you selected rather than trying to populate every possible field from a generic checklist.

Article table: scroll horizontally, or focus the table area and use the arrow keys.

FieldWhat to check
Description or nicknameA label that lets you distinguish this saved destination from another account
Account nameThe legal name matches both the bank account and the verified Kraken name or entity
Account number or IBANThe receiving account identifier in the format requested by that provider
BIC or SWIFT codeThe bank identifier required for that transfer route
Routing, sort, transit or BSB numberThe relevant local banking identifier; ask the bank which number fits the payment method
Bank and branch detailsThe institution, branch and address requested in the form
Intermediary bankComplete this optional field only when you have appropriate intermediary instructions

A bank can use different routing instructions for different payment rails. Copying a number from an old transfer without checking its purpose can therefore produce the wrong destination instructions. The FAQ specifically tells customers to ask their financial institution for the correct FedWire routing number. Never invent a missing field from another customer’s screenshot.

Compare the methods your account actually offers

Kraken’s public cash-withdrawal table, last updated September 28, 2026, provides examples of how differently bank routes can work. Its USD ACH row is marked USA only and estimates zero to two business days. The EUR Bank Frick SEPA row estimates zero to five business days. Some SEPA Instant routes are described as near-instant, while Kraken also explains that bank checks can extend processing time. These are published estimates for named routes, not promises for your payment.

Use the following comparison on the current funding screen instead of treating the fastest public row as the default:

Article table: scroll horizontally, or focus the table area and use the arrow keys.

DecisionWhy it matters
Currency supported by the receiving accountA currency conversion by a receiving or intermediary bank can change the amount credited
Exact method and providerTwo routes for the same currency can have different costs and requirements
Minimum withdrawalA visible balance is not enough if the proposed order is below the selected route’s minimum
Daily withdrawal allowanceKraken tells customers to check the asset’s daily withdrawal limit
Kraken fee and possible bank costsIntermediary or correspondent banks may charge separately
Processing estimate and banking holidaysEstimated business days differ from an immediate account debit or a weekend calendar count

This is a withdrawal workflow, rather than a recommendation to choose the cheapest exchange. If you are still deciding where to keep and use an account, the Kraken exchange profile gives the wider context; your withdrawal order remains the authority for this particular transfer’s terms.

A withdrawal hold and bank transit are different problems

Kraken’s funding guide says certain purchases can trigger a temporary 72-hour withdrawal hold. Its cash-options page separately states that cash deposited through ACH Plaid is held from withdrawal for seven days. A balance can therefore be present while part of it is unavailable to send. Changing the receiving bank does not establish that the hold has ended.

Once you have an actual withdrawal request, its status and the selected provider’s processing estimate become the next things to inspect. Do not label every delay a hold, and do not submit repeated requests merely because the receiving bank has not credited the first one. Our separate Kraken withdrawal-hold checklist covers that distinction in more detail; this article focuses on making and tracing the bank order.

If the money has not reached your bank

Kraken’s missing-funds article gives a specific sequence for an overdue cash withdrawal: check its status, verify all bank details saved in Kraken, check for banking holidays, then contact Kraken Support if those checks do not resolve it. It also says not to contact Kraken’s funding providers directly, because that can cause additional delays.

For a support request, prepare the withdrawal record, the currency and amount, the selected method, when you submitted it and what you have already checked. That preparation is our practical suggestion for explaining the case clearly. It does not mean a particular document guarantees a refund, a successful trace or an expedited transfer. Keep the discussion inside the support channel reached from your Kraken account.

Quick answers

Can I withdraw to someone else’s bank account?

Kraken’s withdrawal instructions require an account you control whose name matches the verified Kraken name or entity. Do not use a friend’s account as a workaround for a missing destination method.

Can I send the cash back to my payment card?

The public cash-withdrawal page says credit and debit card withdrawals are not possible. The method used for a purchase does not automatically become a cash withdrawal destination.

Does near-instant mean my bank must credit immediately?

No. Kraken notes that banks’ regulatory checks and compliance procedures can lengthen processing for routes described as near-instant. Use the actual order status and the provider’s current estimate.

Is this also the Kraken Pro procedure?

The standard website article expressly directs Kraken Pro customers to a separate guide. The account-name and provider checks still matter, but follow the instructions for the interface in front of you.

What could we not verify?

We did not access a private Kraken account or initiate a withdrawal. Your enabled providers, available balance, personal limits, review status and final bank credit are account-specific and remain unverified here.

If you are opening an eligible Kraken account, the public NexuAlpha partner feed lists invite code 7f97gkqw. Check the account and funding options before moving money; the identifier alone does not establish a reward or bank-method entitlement.
