Binance Futures Fees: Maker 0.02%, Taker 0.05%, the BNB Discount and What One Trade Really Costs (October 2026)
The short answer
A regular (non-VIP) Binance USDⓈ-M perpetual futures account pays 0.02% as a maker and 0.05% as a taker on the position value, and paying fees in BNB takes 10% off those rates. On a $10,000 BTCUSDT position that is $2.00 when your limit order rests on the book and $5.00 when a market order fills at once, charged again when you close. Your rate falls as you move up the VIP ladder, but Binance says the volume needed for each futures tier is five times the spot requirement. The fee is only one of three costs: the funding rate, paid every eight hours between longs and shorts, can add more over a week than the trading fee itself.

The fee schedule in one table
Binance's own "Futures Fee Structure & Fee Calculations" help article says maker and taker fees depend on your VIP level, with separate rate tables for USDⓈ-M futures, COIN-M futures and TradFi perpetuals. Our own read of the official fee pages on 10 October 2026 gives the regular-user numbers below, and the same figures sit in the NexuAlpha partner registry.
Article table: scroll horizontally, or focus the table area and use the arrow keys.
| Item | Regular user | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| USDⓈ-M perpetual, maker | 0.02% of position value | Limit order that rests on the book |
| USDⓈ-M perpetual, taker | 0.05% of position value | Market order, or a limit order that fills immediately |
| BNB fee discount (USDⓈ-M) | 10% off | BNB must sit in the USDⓈ-M Futures account |
| COIN-M futures | Same 0.02% / 0.05% in Binance's worked example | Fee is paid in the contract's coin |
| TradFi perpetuals | Separate table | Check the TradFi tab of the fee page before you size a trade |
| Funding | Every 8 hours on most contracts | Paid between traders, not to Binance |
Compare that with the other venues we track: OKX also lists 0.02% / 0.05% for perpetuals, Bybit 0.02% / 0.055% and Bitget 0.02% / 0.06% (partner registry, fees as of 10 October 2026). Binance and OKX tie on the headline rate, so the difference between exchanges usually comes from discounts, VIP volume and rebates, not from the sticker price. Our OKX fees breakdown and Bybit futures fee guide show the same maths for those venues, and OKX vs Bitget vs Binance fees after rebate puts the three side by side.
How the fee is calculated
For a USDⓈ-M contract Binance uses a simple formula: trading fee = position value × fee rate, where position value = contract size × execution price. Binance's worked example buys 1 BTC of BTCUSDT at 10,104 USDT with a market order, so the position value is 10,104 USDT and the taker fee is 10,104 × 0.05% = 5.052 USDT. When the trader later sells 1 BTC at 11,104 USDT with a limit order, the position value is 11,104 USDT and the maker fee is 11,104 × 0.02% = 2.2208 USDT. Two things follow. The fee is charged on the full notional, not on your margin, and it is charged on the way in and again on the way out.
For COIN-M contracts the position value is measured in the underlying coin: (contract size × contract multiplier) ÷ execution price. Binance's example buys 10 BTCUSD delivery contracts of 100 USD each at 10,104 USD, which is 0.09897 BTC, and the taker fee at 0.05% is 0.000049485 BTC, paid in BTC. If you hold no BTC margin, you pay the fee out of what you have, so keep a little extra in the coin.
The cost of one real trade
The sticker rate hides how much leverage multiplies the fee relative to your own money. Here is a $10,000 BTCUSDT position, opened and closed, using the regular-user rates above:

| Entry and exit | Fee in and out | With 10% BNB discount | Share of margin at 10x ($1,000) | Share of margin at 20x ($500) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Market in, market out (taker twice) | $10.00 | $9.00 | 1.0% | 2.0% |
| Limit in, limit out (maker twice) | $4.00 | $3.60 | 0.4% | 0.8% |
| Limit in, market out (maker plus taker) | $7.00 | $6.30 | 0.7% | 1.4% |

That is our own arithmetic from Binance's published rates, with no fills, slippage or spreads included. The takeaway: at 20x, a taker round trip eats 2% of your margin before the price has moved at all. If you trade often, the cheapest habit is to enter with limit orders and let the market come to you.
Funding is the second bill
Perpetual contracts have no expiry, so exchanges tie them to the spot price with a funding payment. When the rate is positive, longs pay shorts; when it is negative, shorts pay longs. Binance does not keep that payment. On Binance's public API the BTCUSDT funding rate at 10:51 UTC on 23 October 2026 was 0.006243% for the current period, with the next payment due at 16:00 UTC (midnight Singapore time). ETHUSDT stood at −0.000242%.
On the $10,000 BTC position above, 0.006243% is $0.62 per eight-hour period, or about $1.87 a day if the rate did not move, which it will. A long held for a week at that rate would pay roughly $13, more than three times the $4.00 a maker round trip costs. That is why the fee schedule alone never tells you whether a position is cheap to hold. Our funding-rate board compares Binance and OKX rows live, so you can check the rate before you open a trade you plan to hold overnight.
Paying fees with BNB, step by step
Binance's article is specific about the 10% discount on USDⓈ-M futures: you need to transfer BNB from your exchange account into your USDⓈ-M Futures account. If the BNB balance there is too small, the system deducts USDT and you do not get the discount. So the order of operations is:
- Hold some BNB in the Spot wallet.
- Transfer it to the USDⓈ-M Futures wallet, not just the Spot wallet.
- Keep enough there for your expected fees; a refill is cheaper than missing the discount.
Binance also points to its Daily BNB Balance Calculation Mechanism for the exact rule, so read the current wording on the fee page before you rely on a specific balance threshold.
VIP tiers and why most traders do not reach them
Binance says all spot VIPs are also futures VIPs, that futures fees mirror spot but are generally lower, and that the volume requirement for each futures tier is five times the spot requirement because of leverage. We did not copy the tier table here because Binance revises it and its fee page is the authority; check the VIP table in your account for your current level. For a trader doing a few trades a week, the practical levers are order type, BNB payment and, where it applies, a rebate through the exchange you signed up with, not VIP volume.
Tokenized-stock and TradFi perpetuals
Binance Futures keeps listing perpetuals on traditional assets. The announcement dated 21 October 2026 lists CEGUSDT, BACUSDT, IBKRUSDT and MDTUSDT, with 20x maximum leverage, 24/7 trading, a minimum notional of 5 USDT, funding every eight hours and a funding cap of ±2%. Binance's fee article says TradFi perps have their own fee table, so do not assume they bill at the 0.02% / 0.05% crypto rate. If these contracts interest you, start with our tokenized stocks hub to see what a stock perp is and is not, because you trade a contract on a price, not the share.
How to act on this
If you have decided Binance is where you will trade futures, sign up through nexualpha.com/go/binance with invite code 11350287, then check the current terms on the Binance exchange profile; a share of the fees you pay is returned to you automatically. If you also want to price the same trade on Bitget, its perpetual rate is 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker, and our code there is nexu888. Whichever you choose, open your first trade with a limit order, put BNB in the right wallet, and write down the funding rate before you hold overnight.
Quick answers
What are the Binance futures fees for a regular user? 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker on USDⓈ-M perpetuals, on the full position value.
Is the fee charged on margin or on position value? On position value. A $10,000 position at 10x costs the same fee as at 2x; the fee is just a bigger share of your margin when leverage is high.
Do I pay fees when I close a trade? Yes. The fee applies to the opening fill and to the closing fill.
How do I get the 10% BNB discount? Move BNB into the USDⓈ-M Futures account. If that balance is short, USDT is charged instead and the discount is lost.
Is funding a fee Binance keeps? No. It moves between longs and shorts, which is why it can be negative.
Are TradFi perpetuals the same price? Binance lists a separate fee table for them, so check it before you trade.
What did we not verify? The exact VIP tier thresholds, the current TradFi perp fee rates, and whether futures trading is available in your country; Binance restricts some regions, and EEA users face extra stablecoin limits under MiCA.
