OKX How to P2P: Buy and Sell Crypto With P2P Express, Payment Rules and Disputes (October 2026)
The short answer
To use P2P on OKX, open OKX's P2P marketplace (okx.com/p2p on the web, or P2P in the app), pick the crypto and your local currency, choose a seller's ad, pay that seller from a bank or wallet account in your own name within the time limit, then tap "I have paid"; OKX holds the seller's crypto in escrow and releases it to you once the seller confirms the money arrived. The fastest route is P2P Express, which picks the best current USDT offer for the amount you type. OKX advertises P2P with zero trading fees, so your real cost is the price in the ad you choose.

What OKX P2P is, in one paragraph
P2P (peer-to-peer) trading on OKX is a marketplace where users buy crypto from, and sell crypto to, other users using local payment methods such as bank transfer or e-wallets. OKX itself is not the counterparty. Its job is to match buyer and seller, hold the seller's crypto while the fiat payment happens, and step in through customer support if something goes wrong. OKX's own product menu describes P2P as "buy/sell with zero trading fees via 100+ payment methods". That makes P2P the usual way to turn local money into USDT in countries where card or bank deposits are limited, and the usual way to cash USDT back out.
Before your first trade you need an OKX account with identity verification. OKX's P2P guidelines say the account must be legally registered under your own name, and some ads on the marketplace are explicitly marked as requiring verification. If you have not opened an account yet, our OKX sign-up guide walks through registration and verification step by step.
How to buy crypto on OKX P2P (step by step)
Option 1: P2P Express (quickest). OKX says P2P Express "finds the best USDT buy price for you" from the offers currently on the marketplace.
- Open P2P and choose P2P Express.
- Select USDT and your fiat currency (for example USD), and enter the amount you want to buy.
- OKX matches you with the best available USDT offers. Select the ad you prefer.
- Pay the seller within the stated time, using the payment method listed in the ad.
- Once the seller confirms the payment, the USDT lands in your OKX account.
Option 2: choose an ad yourself. Browse the Buy tab, filter by currency, payment method and amount, and compare the price, limits, and the seller's completion record. This takes a little longer but lets you avoid sellers with poor track records or payment methods you do not use.
Whichever option you use, the payment part follows the same rules:
- Pay with the payment method in the fiat currency named in the ad, and only from a bank or wallet account that is in your full name and matches your OKX account.
- Pay within the time set by the seller, then select "I have paid". OKX cancels the order automatically if you go past the time limit.
- Never select "I have paid" before the money has actually left your account. OKX treats that as potentially fraudulent and can suspend the account.
- Choose an instant or fast transfer. OKX warns that slow methods such as an international wire can delay completion.
- Leave the transfer note empty unless the seller needs one. OKX specifically asks buyers to avoid words such as cryptocurrency, BTC, USDT, OKX or "please release crypto" in the bank reference, because they can delay the payment.
How to sell crypto on OKX P2P
Selling works in reverse. You either respond to a buyer's ad or post your own sell ad. When a buyer places an order, OKX locks your crypto in escrow; the buyer pays you in fiat; you check that the money has really arrived and that the sender's name matches the buyer's verified name; only then do you release the crypto.

That name check is your job. OKX's terms say the seller must confirm that the payer's name matches the account holder before releasing tokens, and that OKX does not perform this verification on behalf of the parties. Payments are final once the order completes, so a released order cannot be pulled back later.
A few seller rules from the OKX guidelines are worth knowing before you post an ad:
Article table: scroll horizontally, or focus the table area and use the arrow keys.
| Seller rule | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Only accept payment in the fiat currency your ad specifies | Mismatched currency is a common scam pattern |
| Double-check price, quantity and payment details before publishing | If the buyer pays using wrong details you posted, you still have to fulfil the order |
| Do not ask support to cancel orders | Agree with the buyer first; return any payment before cancelling |
| Toggle your ads offline when you are away | Slow responses hurt you; hiding ads does not affect their ranking |
| No bots or scripts that snipe mispriced ads | OKX can suspend accounts that do this |
What OKX P2P costs
OKX does not charge a trading fee on P2P, according to its product description. The cost sits in two other places. First, the ad price: P2P sellers set their own USDT price in local currency, so a seller may quote a premium over the spot rate. Comparing three or four ads, or letting P2P Express pick, is the simplest way to keep that premium small. Second, your bank or wallet may charge for the transfer itself; that depends on your provider, not on OKX.
If you later trade the USDT you bought, normal spot or futures fees apply. Our OKX exchange profile lists OKX's current maker and taker fees and the products it offers, and our rates page compares fees across exchanges.
Disputes: what to do if the seller does not release
If you paid and the seller has not released the crypto after a reasonable time, you can raise a dispute. OKX holds the seller's crypto until the transaction is complete, which is what protects you.
- Within 72 hours of creating the order: open the order, choose "Need help?" or the Appeal option, select the type of issue, and if the suggested fixes do not solve it, describe the problem and upload evidence such as payment receipts or screen recordings. A customer support agent then steps in.
- More than 72 hours after the order: the system no longer handles the dispute automatically, so contact OKX online support directly.
- Timing: OKX says to allow up to 24 hours for the team to respond. Updates go to your registered email and appear in the order's dispute view.
OKX recommends talking to the other side through the in-app chat first, because that chat is used as official evidence. Sellers can use the same process when a buyer marks an order as paid but no money arrived.
The P2P scam OKX is warning about
OKX has published a specific warning: scammers create new OKX accounts, post fake USDT sell ads, and once a buyer places an order they push the conversation to WhatsApp, Telegram or Zalo. There they ask for extra payments outside the platform, cancel the trade after receiving the cash, and move the USDT elsewhere, leaving the buyer with neither the crypto nor a refund.
Warning signs OKX lists:
- Requests to move the conversation off OKX's in-app chat.
- Fake "OKX Support" emails or messages, or an "account restricted, help me unlock it" story.
- Requests for extra payments outside the platform.
- A seller insisting you pay after the order has already been cancelled for timeout.
The practical rules: stay in the in-app chat, never pay after the payment window has closed (you lose escrow protection), click "I have paid" only after your transfer is complete, never share bank credentials or selfies, and set up OKX's anti-phishing code so you can tell real OKX emails from fakes. OKX only contacts users through its official okx.com email domain and the in-app chat, and it never asks for passwords or authenticator codes. If something feels wrong, press Appeal on the order before cancelling and keep every receipt, chat message and the order ID.
How to act on this
If you are new to OKX, open the account first, finish verification, then try P2P Express with a small amount so you learn the payment flow before you move larger sums. When you sign up, the referral code NEXU888 can be entered in the optional referral field; it returns part of your future OKX trading fees once you start trading spot or futures. The OKX profile shows what else the account can do after your first USDT arrives.
Quick answers
Does OKX charge fees for P2P? OKX describes P2P as having zero trading fees. You still pay whatever premium the seller builds into the ad price, plus any fee your own bank or wallet charges.
Do I need KYC for OKX P2P? Yes in practice. OKX's guidelines require an account legally registered in your name, some ads require verification, and your payment account must be in the same name as your OKX account.
How long do I have to pay? The seller sets the payment window in the ad. If you miss it, OKX cancels the order automatically; do not pay after that.
What if the seller does not release my USDT? Raise a dispute from the order page within 72 hours of creating it, with your payment proof. OKX asks you to allow up to 24 hours for a response.
Can I cancel an order? Only the buyer can cancel. If you have already paid, do not cancel; raise a dispute instead.
Is P2P Express different from normal P2P? It is a shortcut inside the same marketplace that picks the best current USDT offer for your amount; the payment and escrow rules are the same.
