Bitget Pauses Overnight US Stock Trading During a Blue Ocean ATS Upgrade: What Happens to Your Orders
The short answer
On October 21, 2026, Bitget announced that it has temporarily suspended overnight trading for US stock spot trading, US stock rTOKENs and related instruments, because Blue Ocean ATS, the upstream overnight trading system behind Bitget U.S. Stocks, is upgrading. Premarket and regular-hours trading are unaffected. Bitget says user assets and underlying funds are not affected, unfilled overnight orders are being frozen or canceled under its rules, and overnight trading will resume automatically once the upstream upgrade is finished. No restart time was given. The same morning, Binance published a separate notice saying that one of the largest US overnight ATS venues, which it did not name, had intermittent network problems for almost three hours, and that it was removing the affected period from the funding calculation of its US-equity perpetual contracts. If you hold overnight orders or a leveraged US-stock position, check them now.

What Bitget announced
The announcement, published on Bitget's support center at 07:12 on October 21 (UTC, per the announcement feed), is short and specific. It lists five points:
- What is paused: overnight trading for US stock spot trading, US stock rTOKENs and other related instruments.
- What still works: premarket and regular-hours trading continue as usual.
- Assets: user assets and underlying funds are unaffected.
- Orders: unfilled overnight orders are being frozen or canceled in accordance with applicable rules.
- Restart: overnight trading resumes automatically when the upstream system upgrade is complete.
Bitget also says all brokers and trading platforms connected to the Blue Ocean system are currently affected. That matters because it tells you the cause is upstream of Bitget: this is not a Bitget-only outage, and the restart date depends on the upgrade finishing at the ATS, which Bitget does not control. The announcement does not give an expected duration, so any article that quotes a resume time is guessing.
What Binance said the same morning
Binance posted a separate notice, "Important Updates on TradFi Perpetual Contracts (2026-10-21)". It says one of the largest US overnight alternative trading systems had intermittent network connectivity issues from 03:46 to 06:30 UTC on October 21. For the affected period, the premium index of the TradFi perpetual contracts that track US equities will be removed from the funding rate calculation at the 08:00 UTC funding time.
Binance does not name the ATS, and Bitget's notice names Blue Ocean for its own supplier. We therefore do not claim the two notices describe the same system. What we can say is that two large venues reported US overnight-session problems on the same morning, and that both took steps to keep traders from being hurt by them: Bitget by pausing the session, Binance by excluding the distorted period from funding.

Open →Why the overnight session is fragile
Overnight sessions for US stocks run through a small number of alternative trading systems, because the main exchanges are closed. When one of those systems goes down or upgrades, every broker and exchange that routes to it loses the same session at the same time. That is a structural feature of overnight trading, not a Bitget or Binance fault, and it is why the announcements differ in detail but agree on the direction: protect orders, protect funding, restore service later.
For a user, this means an overnight stock position carries a risk that a regular-hours position does not: for some period you may be unable to trade it at all while the underlying market is open elsewhere. You can still hold the position; you simply cannot act on it until the session returns.
What to check now
- Open orders. If you placed an overnight limit order on Bitget U.S. Stocks, look at your order history. Bitget says unfilled overnight orders are frozen or canceled, so an order you expect to be live may not be. Re-place it later if it is still what you want.
- Stops and take-profits. If you relied on an overnight stop to cap a loss, assume it is not working until you see the session resume. Reduce size manually during regular hours if the risk matters to you.
- Funding on perpetuals. If you hold a US-equity perpetual on Binance, the 08:00 UTC funding charge was computed without the affected premium readings. Check your funding history for that settlement before drawing conclusions from it.
- Where you can still trade. Premarket and regular-hours trading are unaffected on Bitget. Binance's TradFi perpetuals trade 24/7 and four new ones were scheduled the same morning, which is the other route if you want exposure to US stocks around the clock, with the usual perpetual risks.
The four new Binance TradFi perpetuals
Alongside the funding notice, Binance announced four new TradFi USDⓈ-margined perpetual contracts for October 21: CEGUSDT at 09:00 UTC (Constellation Energy), BACUSDT at 09:05 UTC (Bank of America), IBKRUSDT at 09:10 UTC (Interactive Brokers) and MDTUSDT at 09:20 UTC (Medtronic). All four are USDT-priced, trade 24/7, support up to 20x leverage, have a minimum notional value of 5 USDT, a funding cap of plus or minus 2.00% settled every eight hours, and support multi-assets mode.
High leverage on a stock that also moves on earnings and macro news is easy to misjudge, and the outage above is a reminder that the price feed behind a stock perpetual is part of the risk. A smaller size is the simplest answer.
How to act on this
If you trade tokenized or synthetic US stocks, keep a position size you can leave alone for a full night, and check the venue's announcement page before you rely on overnight liquidity. To follow how each venue handles these products, our tokenized stocks hub lists the markets we track and the Bitget profile shows fees. If you do not have a Bitget account yet, sign up with code nexu888 through NexuAlpha and you get a fee rebate on your trades. If you prefer 24/7 perpetuals, the Binance profile has the fee table, and Binance sign-ups through NexuAlpha use code 11350287.
What we could not verify
Neither notice says how long the disruption will last, and neither says which orders were canceled rather than frozen. We could not confirm that the ATS in Binance's notice is Blue Ocean, so we treat them as separate statements. We also could not find a statement from Blue Ocean ATS itself, so the cause of the upgrade comes from Bitget's wording only.
Quick answers
Is Bitget stock trading down? No. Only overnight trading is suspended. Premarket and regular-hours trading continue, according to Bitget.
Are my assets safe? Bitget states that user assets and underlying funds are unaffected.
What happens to my overnight orders? Bitget says unfilled overnight orders are being frozen or canceled according to applicable rules. Check your order history.
When will overnight trading return? Automatically when the upstream upgrade is complete. No time was given, so we do not guess one.
Is this a Bitget problem? Bitget says all brokers and platforms connected to Blue Ocean ATS are currently affected, so the cause is upstream.
What did Binance change? For the period when an unnamed US overnight ATS had connectivity problems, Binance removed the premium index of its US-equity TradFi perpetuals from the 08:00 UTC funding calculation.
