CZ denies X paid Yi He nearly $300,000, calling the claim fake: the screenshot's five payouts add up, which settles nothing

8 min

The short answer

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao answered a viral claim that X paid co-CEO Yi He nearly $300,000 in two months with two words: "it's fake." The reply went up at 23:13 SGT on November 8 (15:13 UTC). It gives no correct figure and does not say which part is false, and we found no statement from Yi He or X in the reports we opened.

We checked what we could. The five payouts in the circulating screenshot do sum exactly to its $295,924.17 total, and their two-week spacing matches X's public schedule. Neither fact proves the image real, since anyone can add five numbers and read the schedule. The rumor touches no customer balance. For a Binance user the event that matters comes today at 20:00 SGT, when the two co-CEOs and the chief security officer speak on X Spaces.

What the post and the screenshot show

The claim spread through a post by TuanX at 20:23 SGT, which opened with "Rumors are circulating" and asked whether the numbers were real. PANews and Odaily both reported the denial within about 11 minutes of it. When we read the posts, the question had 62,386 views and the denial 51,619.

The attached image has two panels. One is a payout page headed "Original Content Rewards". The other is a "You got paid!" email addressed to @heyibinance from "X Monetization". These are the numbers on the payout page:

Date shownAmount shown
November 6, 2026$92,622.27
October 23, 2026$44,292.60
October 9, 2026$52,641.29
September 25, 2026$32,755.26
September 11, 2026$73,612.75
Total payouts shown$295,924.17

It also shows a next payout on November 20. Our arithmetic: $92,622.27 + $44,292.60 + $52,641.29 + $32,755.26 + $73,612.75 = $295,924.17, an average of about $59,185 per payout. September 11 to November 6 is 56 days, the source of the "two months" in the claim.

Why the matching numbers settle nothing

A forger would make the sums match, and a real dashboard would too, so the total cannot separate them. The same goes for the cadence. X announced in August that its new program would pay every two weeks, which any reader could copy.

One date is worth a question. Gigazine's summary of X's notice says the old Revenue Sharing program kept earning until September 7, with a final payment around September 11, and that its participants could apply to Original Content Rewards from September 8. The screenshot lists a $73,612.75 payment on September 11 under an Original Content Rewards heading. That could be how X displays a carried-over payment, or it could be an error in a made-up image. We have never seen the real page for an account of this size and cannot say which.

The program's rules do not settle it either. Digital Trends describes payment on "qualified impressions": unique views from Premium subscribers on the Home Timeline, with at least half the post visible. Deccan Chronicle lists the entry bar as a paid subscription, 500 verified followers and 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users over 90 days. Yi He's account showed 678,223 followers at our read, and a post of November 8 had 336,031 views. Those figures do not rule the account out, but none of the sources we opened gives a rate per impression, so we cannot test whether about $296,000 is plausible for that reach.

What "it's fake" leaves open

The reply is a useful fact and a thin one. It comes from a person close to the subject with no shown evidence. It could mean the image is forged, the amount is wrong, or Yi He is not in the program at all. Those are different claims, and the two words do not choose among them.

Two things would settle it. Yi He could say so directly, or X could. Neither has done so in anything we opened. Until then the honest version is that a screenshot of unknown origin exists and that Binance's founder rejects it.

Why a trader should care at all

Start with what this does not change. Creator income, real or invented, has no bearing on whether a coin you hold on Binance can be withdrawn. BNB shows no visible reaction either: at 04:53 SGT it traded at $697.45 on Binance, up 0.35% over 24 hours, with $697.49 on OKX and $697.44 on Bitget. We attribute no price move to this story.

The form of the rumor deserves more attention than its content. A "You got paid!" email with a verified-looking sender and a large number is cheap to produce, and fake refund messages have the same shape. Binance has told users since October 30 to rely only on official channels. If you hold a Binance account, the protection is mechanical: an anti-phishing code you set appears in genuine emails and SMS, and a missing or wrong code marks the message as suspect. The notices we opened describe no compensation claim form, so a link offering one is a reason to stop.

What Yi He did post that day

Yi He's public record for November 8 gives a better sense of where Binance's attention sits than the rumor does. Three posts or reports from that day carry details a user can act on:

The first of these posts also offered 1 BNB each for ten product suggestions, a reminder that these accounts post rewards too. Treat any reward link that claims to come from one with the same suspicion as a refund link, and confirm it on the account itself.

What to listen for at 20:00 SGT

Binance's post sets a fireside chat on X Spaces for 12:00 UTC on November 9 with Richard Teng, Yi He and chief security officer Jimmy Su. PANews gives the same time as 20:00 in Beijing, which is also 20:00 SGT. Open it from Binance's own account, because a fake Space link is an easy scam tonight.

Four open questions have numbers attached:

Is the reserve proof finished?Binance's November 4 update covers 44 tokens and expected the proof in 50 to 60 hours; we could not confirm completion
Is the replenishment done?About 98% replenished on November 4, with the last 2% slower
Where is the full post-mortem?Binance promised one on October 30; PANews says a preliminary report came on November 3

Treat anything said on the call as a company statement until a written notice carries it. Recovery Update #9 says updates come through official channels and that the withdrawal page for your asset and network is where to confirm availability. Our count from November 8 and the CFO change give more background on where the recovery stands.

If you have funds there, check your exact coin and network before the call. Any plan you make afterwards should rest on what that screen says.

What to do before the call if you hold funds on Binance

  1. Open the withdrawal page for your coin and network and write down what it shows, so you can compare it after the call.
  2. Set the anti-phishing code if you have not, because scam messages tend to follow large public events.
  3. Turn on the withdrawal whitelist, which limits withdrawals to addresses you listed.
  4. Test a small withdrawal on a route that is open, to your own wallet, before you rely on it for a larger amount.
  5. Join only through Binance's own X account, and ignore Space links sent by direct message.
  6. Wait for the written notice before you act on anything said about reopening dates.

What we could not confirm

  • Who made the screenshot, and whether any part of it is genuine.
  • What exactly CZ's reply refers to, and what it is based on.
  • Whether Yi He's account is enrolled in Original Content Rewards, or earned anything from X.
  • X's rate per qualified impression. X's own help page refused our automated request, so the program terms here come from press summaries of it.

Quick answers

Did X pay Yi He nearly $300,000?

Nobody has shown that. A screenshot claims $295,924.17 across five payments, CZ called the claim fake, and neither Yi He nor X has addressed it in the reports we opened.

Does the screenshot look consistent?

Its five payments add up to its total and its dates follow X's two-week cycle. Both are easy to reproduce, so that does not show the image is real.

Does this affect my funds on Binance?

Nothing we read links this rumor to customer balances. Withdrawal routes are the live issue, and the screen for your coin and network shows their current status.
