How to Buy Cardano (ADA) on Binance While It Trades at $0.21 After a 15% Weekly Drop: Pairs, Fees, Steps and What to Check First (October 2026)

7 min

The short answer

You buy Cardano on Binance by funding the account with a stablecoin or a supported local currency and then placing a spot order on ADA/USDT, the most liquid of the twelve ADA pairs Binance lists; the spot fee is 0.1% for maker and taker, and there is no ADA/MXN or ADA/USD pair, so most buyers go through USDT. The timing question is why people are searching this weekend: ADA fell to $0.2156 at 02:50 SGT on 19 October 2026, down 3.0% in 24 hours and 14.4% since last Sunday's close, its lowest price since 18 September, while founder Charles Hoskinson said he is personally writing a new programming language for the chain. This guide gives the exact route, the fees, and the checks that matter before you press Buy.

Why ADA is in the news

Cardano had the worst week of the large alts. On Binance spot, ADA/USDT closed at $0.2523 on Sunday 11 October and at $0.2159 on Sunday 18 October, a 14.4% drop by our arithmetic from the daily closes, against 3.3% for bitcoin and 7.1% for ether (CoinGecko). From its 6 October high of $0.2704, the 90-day peak, ADA has given back 20.3%. The $0.2156 print is the lowest since 18 September, when CoinGecko's daily series shows $0.2025; the 90-day floor is $0.1554 from 28 July.

ADA is the 18th-largest crypto asset with an $8.1 billion market cap, $231 million of 24-hour volume and 37.56 billion of a 45 billion maximum supply in circulation. It trades 93% below its $3.09 record of 1 September 2021 and is down 66% over one year, so the current drawdown is a leg in a long decline rather than a sudden collapse.

Volume is drying up as the price falls. Binance ADA/USDT quote volume was $40 million on 10 October, $12 million on 17 October and $9 million through most of Sunday 18 October, with the day's range $0.2142 to $0.2233. Thin volume into a low is a reason to use limit orders rather than market orders, which we cover below.

The news hook is development rather than price. On 18 October Charles Hoskinson wrote that he is "personally developing a programming language for Cardano", which he described as the first to enable intents and proof-carrying data via Groth16 proofs; U.Today, which carried the post, notes he gave no name, specification or release date. Cardano's smart contracts today are written in Plutus, Aiken and Midnight's Compact, so a new language is a multi-year project, not a catalyst for this week. Separately, the Cardanians community account reported on 16 October that the Ouroboros Leios release candidate, the throughput upgrade, is 52% complete, as reported by CoinGape. Neither item changes what you can do with ADA this week; both are why "Cardano" is being searched.

Where ADA trades on Binance

Binance's exchange information endpoint lists twelve ADA spot pairs in TRADING status at 02:50 SGT: ADA/USDT, ADA/USDC, ADA/FDUSD, ADA/BTC, ADA/ETH, ADA/EUR, ADA/TRY, ADA/BRL, ADA/JPY, ADA/IDR, ADA/USD1 and ADA/U. For almost everyone the right market is ADA/USDT: it carried $13 million of 24-hour volume on Sunday, and USDT is the balance you end up with from a card purchase, a P2P buy or a stablecoin deposit. If you hold euros, lira, reais, yen or rupiah in Binance, the fiat pairs let you skip the stablecoin step.

BitgetADA/USDT$0.2159$2.0M0.10% / 0.10%
OKXADA/USDT$0.2158$2.6M0.08% / 0.10%

Prices are within a tenth of a cent across the three, so the choice is about where your money already is and what the fee is. Binance's regular-user spot fee is 0.100% maker and 0.100% taker (official fee page, read 10 October 2026, see the Binance profile). On a $1,000 buy that is $1.00 in fees; for context the daily moves this week were 3% to 7%, so the fee is not what decides the trade.

The steps

  1. Open and verify the account. Binance requires identity verification before you can buy with fiat or use P2P, and its P2P guide also requires at least one two-factor authentication device such as Google Authenticator. If you are opening the account now, our Binance sign-up guide lists the documents.
  2. Fund it. Three routes. (a) A stablecoin deposit from another exchange or wallet: send USDT or USDC to your Binance deposit address on a network both sides support. (b) A card purchase or a local bank transfer where Binance supports your currency, which lands as a fiat or USDT balance. (c) P2P: in Binance's own words, a marketplace where you buy crypto from other users "using your preferred local currency, setting your own price, and choosing from various payment methods", with Binance holding the seller's crypto in escrow until you have paid.
  3. Go to Spot and open ADA/USDT. Search "ADA" in the Trade menu and pick the USDT pair.
  4. Use a limit order into a thin market. With Sunday volume under $10 million and a 4% daily range, a market order can fill several ticks away from the last price. Place a limit buy at or slightly below the last trade; if you want certainty of a fill, use a limit at the current ask.
  5. Check the fill and the fee. Your order history shows the executed price and the 0.1% fee, charged in ADA or in BNB if you have fee discounts enabled.
  6. Decide where it lives. ADA can stay in your Binance spot wallet or be withdrawn to a Cardano wallet. Check the withdrawal fee shown on the withdrawal screen before you move a small amount; the fee is fixed per withdrawal, so very small transfers are expensive in percentage terms.

If you go the P2P route, three rules from Binance's guide matter: cancelling three P2P orders in a day suspends Buy Crypto for the rest of the day; you cannot have more than two ongoing orders; and you should click "Transferred, Notify Seller" only after you have actually paid, then use Appeal if the seller does not release within the window. Our Binance P2P guide walks through the escrow and appeal flow.

What to check before you buy

  • The level you are buying. $0.2142 (Sunday's low) and $0.2025 (the 18 September close) are the two prices below the market. Above, $0.2233 (Sunday's high) and $0.2523 (last Sunday's close) are what a bounce has to recover.
  • Whether the broader alt selling has stopped. ADA's drop is the deep end of a market-wide move: SOL is down 9.1%, XRP 10.5% and DOGE 11.0% over seven days, and spot ether ETFs lost $320 million last week. A buy here is a bet that this de-risking is ending, not a Cardano-specific call.
  • Volume. A rebound on rising ADA/USDT volume is worth more than one on $9 million days. The daily quote volume is visible on the pair's chart.
  • What you are actually buying. Hoskinson's language and the Leios release candidate are long-dated. Treat them as context, not as a reason to buy before a date.
  • Perp funding, if you use leverage. Hyperliquid's ADA perpetual carried 152.9 million ADA of open interest (about $33 million) with slightly negative hourly funding at 02:56 SGT, which says leveraged traders are not crowding the long side here.

How to act on this

If the plan is to buy spot ADA and hold, do it with a limit order on ADA/USDT and keep the position small enough that another 15% week does not change your decisions. Opening the Binance account with referral code 11350287 returns 25% of your Binance trading fees, which matters more if this becomes a recurring buy than for a single order. If you already use Bitget, its ADA/USDT spot market charges the same 0.1%, and signing up with code nexu888 via the Bitget profile rebates part of your fees there. Either way, the fee is a rounding error next to the price move; the order type and the size are the decisions that matter.

Quick answers

Is Cardano listed on Binance? Yes, in twelve spot pairs including ADA/USDT, ADA/USDC, ADA/BTC, ADA/EUR, ADA/TRY and ADA/BRL. There is no ADA/MXN or ADA/USD pair.

What does Binance charge to buy ADA? 0.1% maker and 0.1% taker on spot for regular users, so $1 per $1,000 traded.

Why is Cardano down this week? ADA fell 14.4% from last Sunday's close in a broad alt sell-off in which SOL, XRP and DOGE each lost 9% to 11%; there was no Cardano-specific negative event. ADA is at its lowest since 18 September.

What did Charles Hoskinson announce? That he is personally developing a new programming language for Cardano enabling intents and proof-carrying data via Groth16 proofs; no name, specification or date was given.

Should I use a market or a limit order? A limit order. ADA/USDT volume on Binance was $9 million to $13 million a day this weekend, thin enough for market orders to slip.

Can I buy ADA with pesos or other local currency? Through Binance P2P, where you pay a seller in your currency and receive USDT in escrow, then buy ADA/USDT; or through a fiat pair if your currency is one of EUR, TRY, BRL, JPY or IDR.

What we could not verify

Binance's how-to-buy and fee pages did not load for us on 19 October, so the 0.1% fee is from our 10 October reading of the official fee page. We did not test a card purchase or a P2P order ourselves, and ADA withdrawal fees are shown only in a logged-in account.
